how much does the bar weigh?

How much does a standard olympic bar weigh? I've heard a couple different things but most people tell me 45 pounds.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what the bar weighs on a smith machine??

45 pounds for a regular bar.

Smith machine bar weight doesn't count becuase it's counter balanced.

Yeah, I'd say 45-pounds. However, if you really want to be sure: weigh yourself. First w/out the bar, then while holding the bar.

Hell, just go crazy: weight yourself while holding several different types of bars.

I always wondered what ez-curl bars weighed but I'll try standing on a scale with it the next time I'm in the gym

Oly bar is actually closer to 44lbs.

OK I used to run a gym so I had to know this for ordering.

oly bar 44lb aka 22Kg
pwr bar 45lbs
High impact bar 65lbs
3/4 bar 35lbs
most ez-curls 25lbs
though some range between 20-22lbs
Standard plate single dumbell handle 15lbs some are 10lbs depending on brand.

looks like the scottsman gave a definative answer. At the place I used to lift at, they had bars from 43...45...48lbs.
