Ok cool I am benching in the low 300's I guess there is nothing wrong with showing up and getting last, it's not like the average joe off the street can bench 300 pounds.
There is nothing like competing. Some of the best lifters in the "gym" get to a meet and can't get a lift to save their life. You really have to experience everything and prepare yourself for the 'day'. You will meet a lot of people, share stories and gain knowledge. Powerlifting is just one of those sports where you spend a whole lot of time preparing for something that lasts a few moments. I competed in bodybuilding for 8 years and powerlifting just a couple. For both - my advice applies...you train a year or more, but you will never really know about the 'day' when all your hard work comes to pass unless you show up...
200lbs at 5,8/ blow out both knees squatting 550lbs and have been paying for it ever since.Just had another knee surgery last tuesday so I"m rehabing it again. Bench is still good but I don"t go heavy anymore[225lbs 20-25reps].I was leg pressing 1200lbs for 15 reps in jan of this year but tore a meniscius and just now got around to getting it fixed.
A guy that I've gotten some tips from won the 165lbs class at the GA State Competition last year. He benched 265, squatted 415 (might have been 430), and pulled 505.

I have a limited amount of knowledge about competitions, but that is an awsome total. At this time im only going for the single lift competitions of Bench press. And it just doesnt seem like a 265 lift would be good enough to win.
