How much can one lose in a month?

Well, how much do you think it is possible for someone to lose in a month... had a discussion with a mate on this..
Taking out all the "it's unhealthy to lose more then 1.5lb a week, you lose muscle"

How much do you think it is possible to lose in a month? 10? 15? 20? 25? 30???? ;) and how?



disclosure: just want to prove a mate wrong.... im in no way going to try .. hehe
 
Naturally, the faster the weight comes off, the unhealthier it gets. But if you aren't eating and are staying very active.........it's possible to lose 8-10lbs/week. This, of course is a very unhealthy rate for weightloss to occur. Water weight and loss in muscle mass is sure to happen taking this route. It all boils down to the calories in < calories out to lose weight. Maintaining a heavy calorie deficit will result in the utilization of fat/lean tissue being used to support life instead of the bulk of the energy spent being derived from food.
