How many of you don't live near beaches?

I use to live 2 blocks from the beach in Queens, NY (not one of the greatest beaches in the world, but it's okay). I never went. Now, I'm 2-3 hours away. Now, I love going to the beach and it sucks I can't get there right away.

I read an article in the times the other day about how the surfing scene in NYC is actually growing. Rockaway has some decent breaks. Not the best beaches over there, but not too bad. Breezy Point isn't that bad either.

i really ont care about the ocean. i have the Rocky Mountains 30 minutes from my doorstep. now thats a beautiful site.
