How many men can cook??

Behemoth

Aberration
Platinum
Being raised in SW Louisiana, it was just part of our culture that all the men could cook...

Gumbo, Etoufee, Bisque, Turtle Soup, Courtbullion (Coo-be-yahn), Duck Gumbo, Fried Alligator, Boiled shrimp/crawfish/crab....

Make some mean Deer Sausage...

My absolute favorite being squirrel and okra gumbo.

i can cook in other rooms than the kitchen....lol

i wish i could cook

I can do anything on a grill.

I'm pretty good inside too.

Tonight, I did shrimp sauteed in soy sauce and butter and grilled salmon with cajun spices and lemon.

I don't do super-complex dishes well, but that fru-fru stuff often has a lot of wasted fat and carbs hidden in it. I wish I could do more with soups tho.

I wasnt making reference to cooking healthy...I suck at that...

But if you wanna put on some pounds, I gotcha covered.

moved out at 17 and have always been a food snob...while my housemates were dining on an exquisite meal we call "toast and marmalade" with the occasional stir fry, i was cooking up a storm

...i was fat in uni :(

now i am the gourmet master of the strawberry protein shake :(

mmmmmmmm....sounds good! Would you make me some chicken etoufee -- my favorite cajun food. got a recipe to send me?

i love when a man cooks for me. My fella can cook a mean meatloaf, chili, goulash and steak. Other than that, eh. It is good, though.

I cook oatmeal and potato
and i use the george foreman grill for my meat, a frying pan for my eggs and a steamer for my rice and veggies

that is all

I can make an okay lasagna, and have done a few ethnic side dishes and condiments that turned out well (mint chutney, tabouleh, hummus), and I can make an okay pot of chilli. But I can't make a decent bolognese or marinara to save my life.

I can make a good hamburger on either a grill or a griddle.

But I can't put it all together and make a decent meal.

Around Lake Charles...the food in the convenience stores is better then the food in most of the restaurants found in Arkansas.

Every job I ever worked in La. they would have a huge pot of something cooking in the breakroom. It was just engrained in the culture.

Man, I had a date once where the guy made me London Broil, lobster, prosciuto wrapped asparagus, jasmine infused rice, and this squash and yam puree. Then, he did poached pears with mango, papaya, and cocunut sorbets that he made from scratch. he had also made this spiced nuts that were so good. I was thinking, "Darn, I will never cook for this man because I can't compete with this." It was one of the best meals I have ever had.

My little brother was the guy who bought the soup you just pour in the pot and DON"T add water to ... Now he's the guy who who comes home from work at 10 pm and says he wants Nachos for dinner and spends 2 hrs making homemade guacamole. He also makes these amazing grilled frenchfries that he hand-flipps individually on the grill and then has this amazing spicey salt stuff he makes to put on it later.

I did very little fancy cooking until I moved to FL -- when I started diving and got into lobstering and had lots of friends who were spearfisherman -- our approach was :

1) Filet & release
2) Kill & Grill
3) Miller Lite and / or Capt & Diet

Most will admit, however that I can grill just about anything.

Otherwise:
1) grill chicken, steak, turkey patties, yams
2) broil chicken, steak, turkey patties (if the weather is too sucky to use the grill)
3) mix protein mix
4) nuke the broccoli or green beans
5) nuke the oatmeal
6) Shovel it down.

I grew up in MA in an all-Italian family, so I learned how to make sauce when I was 3 or 4.

Now, - 30 years later I LOVE to cook, and can cook almost anything, but still prefer Italian

For my age, I am a pretty damn good cook.

I have a TON to learn though. My goal is to learn how to make my mother's gravy so the recipe will not die (my sister sure as fuck isn't going to learn...).

I can cook a badass meatloaf thanks to some EF members. Other than that, I can cook pretty good for the most part. My spaghetti sauce is world famous in my house.

I make it out of my head, but next week when I'm back in MI, I'll write it down as I go, and then PM it to you. It's really good.

My Mom used to can all kinds of stuff, pickles, tomatoes, green beans, you name it. That was some good stuff. We'd all go and pick the stuff fresh and she would spend hours canning it all. The sweet pickles were my favorite.

I'd kill for some good old home canned pickles. I used to get in trouble when my Mom found the empty Mason jars that used to contain pickles under my bed.

Now that is some muscle building ingredients....

Bacon grease and flour...from such a humble beginning to epicurean greatness!!
