How many else of you are unemployed this fine Juneteenth morning?

call centers, help desk and IT departments are going to India it seems... workforce terrorism.

the market is not great now, but I really do hope you come up with something. Also, you can check with the unemployed department and see if you qualify for free training at a nearby college or technical school.... put the down time to good use.

I've read that as well. Interesting side note: on the job I just started, there are about 12 guys total in the office, all IT nerds. The only white guys are the boss and myself. The rest are all East Indians.

Thanks.

The India trend has been happening for a couple of years. The new spots are Jamaica (imagine that one), Canada, and New Zealand. The dialect isn't as bad in these places as it is in India.

Most of the India stuff is web-chat so that there isn't the accent concern.

But companies aren't stupid....they're looking for cheap labor where they can get it, and unfortunately that's not in the USA.

You're right about call certers moving to Canada. My city has the main contact centres for Sprint, Staples, StarTech, and a couple of major financial institutions -- all of them servicing the United States. They're also hiring upper mangement/executives like crazy. If I had a dregree (another year damn it) I'd be all over that shit.

Anway, hope something turns up for ya bro. :)

Toronto?

We're building a center up there in a suburb of Toronto as well. I think there are visa issues that would prevent me from a getting a permanent position.

Plus I like the USA :)

Thanks GT, your words are worth their weight in pyruvate.

I've got some decent leads on jobs, but so far, that's all they've proved to be.
