I was a year ago, but thankfully some grant money came through. I will be looking for full-time work in the fall, because I am no longer funded after December.

After being unemployed for 6 months. . .I have come to realize that people with jobs are very lucky.

Those who complain, about their job. . don't deserve a job.

I got laid off on Monday...company downsizing...moving more jobs to Canada, etc., etc.

I've got until next Friday to clear out my shit and close up loose ends, then my severance package starts. One week for every year of service since the company was bought by a larger firm. So even though I've been here 6 and a half years, I only get 5 weeks. I am nevertheless still thankful for that.

It's a major bummer, but you move on.

WOW that severance package sucks. my company has had 4 rounds of lay-offs in the past 2 years. The severance packages were a MINIMUM of 1 month for every year's worth of service. AND the absolute minimum was 3 months. So if you only worked for 1-1/2 years you still got 3 months severance.

Just think of it as Fiscal unemployment. It's actually good for the economy. You left your job to look for a better one.

All of my clients own well established businesses and I think they are all losing money these days.....exception is the guy with a bar.

I would have almost zero clients if we didn't have a long standing relationship prior to this economy.

Starting the typical business in this environment would likely be torture unless you were very well funded.

I was being sarcastic. Currently I am positioning myself in the mfg. of a certain product. Im already making it, but I lack some of the equipment so I have to outsource the work. Before things went to shit it was starting to get profitable. So anyways now im buying up the stuff so I can do it all myself. I wish I could come up with an idea that is less labor intensive.

I defenitely can't afford insurance, so im looking into an llc or something in case some dildo does something overly stupid with the product and gets hurt because they are incompetent.
