How many cals per day?

Gotta question. How many calories per day would you guys suggest someone my size eat? I'm 170lbs 6' tall
I was told that you should take your bodyweight and multiply it by 16 and whatever that number is is the minimum cals you should eat a day. Does this sound accurate?

Don't flame on me I know I could've done a search but I was feeling lazy and figured it'd be quicker to ask you guys than to surf through a million posts.
 
I take it you are bulking w/ 16x bodyweight being reccomended.


Thats not a bad amount and is a decent rule of thumb to start out with untill you can see whether you not gaining and muscle or gaining too much fat.

Remember that how frequently you train plays a role into calorie requirements and whether or not you one of those people who always do a bit of cardio while bulking.

A little over 2700 sounds fine to start w/ everyones different so make sure to watch what happens and adjust
 
You need about 2500 more kcal than your BMR per week to put on one pound of pure muscle. That works out to about an extra 350 or so per day. A decent rule of thumb is take your bodyweight in pounds multiplied by 15 and then add the 350 per day. That seems to be a good equation. However, that is a very academic answer, all bodies are different, experiment on yourself and try to learn what works be through trial and error. Good luck!
