For a cracked rib to heal?

From my accident i suffered some other injuries but seems they overlooked doing a x-ray on my ribs.

Well, they didn't hurt all that much, i figured it was due to the trama and the air bag.

Still now, I've intense pain in my middle chest and left side mid rib area. I actually feel it popping when I move.

Seems, I jumped back into training too fast and do squats i irritated it even worse than it was before. :(

did you say squats?

Yup ;)

LOL, Squats and messed up ribs don't mix. Also, leg press and messed up ribs suck. Hell, training and messed up ribs suck.

So 2 Loritab and back to the gym today.

dont rush it, seriously. I did that with my knee, and things just got worse.

Mmm, sounds like you need a good massage to help the pain go away. May I be of assitance?

Anyway, stop workin out until the pain quits, and DON"T go pushing on your rib cage if it is broken. Figure 4 to 6 weeks to set and heal. Pain? could be forever depending how bad it is and how it heals. Wife cracked 3 ribs some 4 years ago and still has trouble. Of course she fell down a steep ski slope at least some 300 to 500 meters, bouncing the entire way.

Im already 80% certain I won't be competing this year. Just way to much stress with the accident, home improvements, activities for the kids, and getting more weight on my back with work, having to take some more classes.. etc etc.

I thought i was 'all healed' Yea right.. LOL! I'm gonna keep going so that my fat ass doesn't get fatter, but keeping it light and easy for now. Like the cardio bunnies call it 'tone' up...

I read this

"Look, rib injuries take a long time to heal. Six weeks?! Ha ha ha. Don't kid yourself. Rib injuries take months to heal. Even rib bone contusions take at least two or three months for an under-30-year-old healthy male before the shadows of pain fade."

__

and since you are elderly, it may take you a long time to heal Friskers.

Fuck! Seriously? I'm just gonna have to wrap the babies up then, cause that is way to long to be out.

and btw, you're not trailing far behind bitch... At least I got one up on you, I'm healthy ;)

2 weeks from today I get this stupid cast off.

I just don't know how long after that it'll be until I can lift weights again. I hope not long.

I'll just be happy I can whack off with my usual hand again. :)

Usual hand? As opposed to your boyfriend doing it for you?

:rainbow:

I bet you can still handle the pink fuzzy 5lbers with the cast on. Don't be a pussy.

You'd be surprised at how soon it will ache in agony more than it did in the first time you broke it. I snapped a metacarpal between my pinky and my wrist...thought I was good to go until I played a game of volleyball. Snapped it again and came crashing to the ground in pain. Let it heal. Nothing wrong with maintenance excersise, but dont push it. You'll be sorry.

Yea, first go round it didn't hurt nearly this bad. Then wake up Sunday morning after my training Sat and I swear I thought somebody beat the hell out of me in my sleep. Or maybe fell out of my bed or something :worried:

I didn't know what was going on, then remembered feeling uncomfortable when I put my weight belt on to squat. The belt may have done it all by itself, those lever belts aren't all that comfy to begin with.

I'm taking it very slow. Just doing what I can and if I feel pain, thats it for me. I sure didn't need this shit right now.

Ribs are among the slowest bones to heal, if I recall correctly. Or the slowest one needs to take to let them heal.

Core injuries are a real bitch as they effect most everything.

I heard typing can agitate this type of injury. I recommend you don't post for atleast 3 months.

Good luck

My prescription of ef ran out

As my darling mother would tell me, "It will take as long as it takes."

Fuck I hated that answer.

This sucks, esp when I try to giggle.

Back when I worked in the gym my boss broke one of his ribs. I felt it my civic duty to make him laugh as much as possible. That way he'd go home early and I was in charge.

I had a 10oz sirloin med well :p I couldn't eat it all though, so I have a good 3pm snack waiting for me.

I'm about to go on a HUGE cut, so I'm probably going to go out tonight, have a steak, some drinks, let it all hang out.
