How long does it take to see results ?

I have been working out with my new routine for only a 2-3weeks, doing the 4x6 my BB friend does, it is three ramped up sets, with the final fourth being the heaviest and every week he adds a little bit more to the bar :) I am doing that now in my third week.

Before that I was mainly a Mountain Bike rider along with body weight exercises like push up's and pull up's, but that just toned me and was good for cardio, now I am trying to add muscle and bulk up, so I am eating more than before, along with Whey protein shakes, and pounding the weights.

So about how long does it take to finally see muscle bulk or getting bigger, after my last workout my arms did look different than before right after I was finished. I remember those stories in high school, when Summer break hit ya here about the kid who said he was going to lift weights and eat more all summer long and come back bigger, and a few of my friends did exactly that, three months later and they were much different looking than before

It all depends on your body, your diet, and your training. Everyone sees gains in different amounts of time, there are too many variables to tell you exactly whatyou'll see and when you'll see it.

Just keep the diet good and the lifting heavy and you'll see results, thats all that matters.

Well first thing I read was you are doing your bodybuilding friends workout which means you are doing a workout that isn't for you. Do a 3x5(assuming your a beginner) and you will see results quicker.

But that 3x5 routine just does not seem like it does enough ? Only 3sets with 5reps each sounds too simple, I have heard from allot of BB friends that three sets is never enough, and that 4-5sets of each exercise is the best ??

So with he 3x5 it is the same weight will all three sets ? I guess that the weight should be pretty ball busting heavy ?

Long story short:

The body's requirements and abilities adapt as you grow. 3x5 is too little for your BB friends. 3x5 is good for a beginner. A plan that would put 30 pounds on in 6 months for your BB friend would cause you to lose 10 pounds in 6 months.

Hit up the training vault. Read about the 3x5. Buy Starting Strenght and Practical Programming if ya want to get serious.

And for your doubts, the 3x5 is results of scientific studies by many different people across the united states, your friends workout is the by chance opinion of 1 person.

Bottom line you're not gonna grow, regardless of routine, unless you eat like a man who is eating to grow.
