How long did it take for you become an INTENSE trainer?

I believe you just don't walk in a gym and have intensity. How can you be intense when you most likely don't know what you are doing? It cracks me up to see novice people act all crazy then just to drop a 35lb d.bell on their head.
It was a good 2 years plus before I feel I become really intense in the gym. I felt I earned my intensity! That is when my training really come together too.
Now I'm just a straight ass in the gym. I love it though. I don't need no friends when I'm working out.

I've been told that I am too intense when I work out.
I never really noticed until someone told me that they were
afraid to talk to me when I was working out.

I never really thought about it until then, but she's right, I do get
pretty focused when I'm lifting.

I feel, from years of track, that I've been pretty intense in my training since I started sprinting competitvely when I was 9.

As far as weight training goes, I was always alot less intense until the 3rd or 4th set of someting, and I then I would develop tunnel vision and really focus...I guess that was probably high school.

I think my training went to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL the first time I actually worked out WITH my trianer. He neeed to do back, and asked if I would mind if he and another guy/friend from the gym did back with me that day. I'd never really watched my trainer workout that closely before. He's 100% intense through every movement, all the time...he's SO focused and intense; even when he's resting he's focused on what's next. That day really changed the level of my workout.

I think this has kinda worked it's way down the line. Spats normally trains me, but a while back she and I did chest and back together. It was really quite impressive. No funny business no joking, just push the weight.

I've told her since then that I think she's a machine in that she's so efficient and precise when she works out.

I try to focus as well as she does, but I'm not there yet.

freak daddy, what is it exactly that you feel when you are really intense in the gym? This is something that has been nagging at me lately - what exactly is intense? I've been training about 2 years now, and don't know any other BB's, so I'm not sure what 'intense' really looks or feels like.

The last couple of months I've been trying to push past any pain limits I thought I had, mostly through forced reps and drop sets. Sometimes, when I finish my set, I feel like I'm going to burst into tears, but not really - just kind of. I don't think it's from the pain - maybe more from the release from the pain. Then there are the times when, say, on the leg press, at the end of the set, I can't move for a minute or so, partially because my legs are so tired, but also because my mind feels blank, like it's going faster or slower than real time.

But it feels so good after the workout.

Does this ever happen to anyone here? Can you describe the feelings/sensations you have when you are really intense?

It feels so good afterwards
