How i handled my bear situation and other stories, by stilleto stilleto.

my daughter (12) gets picked up by the bus at the bottom of our long driveway. we can not see the road from our house.

across the street from the driveway, is a guard rail, then a drop. well a bear (or a family of bears, i think) lives down there.

So every morning, my daughter walks down to the bus stop, and there is a bear in the road, or a tree, or we don't know where it is. We had her wait at the top of the driveway, but then the bus didn't wait for her to come down and she missed it twice.

I wrote to the school and asked them to wait a minute because she can't wait down there with a bear living there. they wrote me back and said it's not policy to wait.

okay. cool... so *I* wrote back and said that now that i TOLD them, i'll hold them legally responsible if ANYTHING happens as a result of them forcing my daughter to wait for the bus with a bear.

they wrote back and said, "okay, we'll wait."


also, i have a nerve in my arm that won't stop twitching. make it stop.

Seriously.......you can't send your daughter down there even if you don't hear anything. This is insane. If you seriously think you have bear inhabitants next to your driveway this is a serious matter and you need to call the sherrif.

Think about it.......ok miss daughter.......I don't hear Mr. bear go to the bus. Then Mr. bear eats miss daughter. Not joking, wake up. Bears aren't to play with.

she leaves for the bus 30 minutes after I leave for work.

but duh, if they really wouldn't wait, we'd drive her. i wouldn't let a bear get her.

LOL, you're so caught up in your own life you're overlooking your daughters. You can't let your daughter get ate just because you'll be late for work.

me: "hello, sheriff? there's a bear and her cubs leaning on my car."
sheriff: "where's your car?"
me: "in my driveway"
sheriff: "where are you?"
me: "in my house"
sheriff: "stay there"
me: "for how long?"
sheriff: "till the bear goes away, duh."
