as far as some people "taking this too seriously," i'll say this. it's childish that someone can temp ban you because they simply don't like you. it reflects a lack of maturity in a place where everyone is supposedly adults. if it gets out of hand, i won't bother coming here anymore.
the "plat bombs" should be limited to the AAS forum. that's the only place it's needed. it will deter members from joining the board. if i was a new member, found EF, said "this place looks great, i'll join and start posting," and was temp banned the first day because someone thought i was an alter and got a few other plat members to hit me with red karma and temp ban me, do you think i'd stay around? nope. you would have just lost a member that would possibly go plat in the future.
oh, the red karma giving to new members seems to be especially high with new female members because everyone thinks "she" is an alter.
keep that in mind. you could end up chasing off as much new business as you gain out of this whole deal.
limit it to the AAS forum, where it's needed. that's my $0.02.

They may decide four is too many or they may decide that four is too few - but the Platinum Members get to decide.
2. A "time bomb" <img src="http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/images/smallkarmaimage.gif"> lasts for 24 hours. So for <a href="http://www.elitefitness.com/reports/platinum/" target="_blank">Platinum Members</a> to ban someone, the four negative Karma time bombs must be dropped in a 24 hour period. <a href="http://www.elitefitness.com/reports/platinum/" target="_blank">Platinum Members</a> will be voting on the time window required for a banning in the private <a href="http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=16" target="_blank">Platinum Hardcore Forum</a> in the coming weeks. We may decide 24 hours is too many or we may decide that 24 hours is too few.
3. When a Platinum banning takes place all of a banned member's posts are darkened. That member's posts will remain dark for a 24 hour period (assuming that the member does not get banned by the moderators in addition to the <a href="http://www.elitefitness.com/reports/platinum/" target="_blank">Platinum Members</a>). In this way, a Platinum banning is not permanent, and will allow the <a href="http://www.elitefitness.com/reports/platinum/" target="_blank">Platinum Members</a> to discipline the regular members if they get out of line. <a href="http://www.elitefitness.com/reports/platinum/" target="_blank">Platinum Members</a> will be voting on the number of hours a Platinum banning lasts in the private <a href="http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=16" target="_blank">Platinum Hardcore Forum</a> in the coming weeks. They may decide 24 hours is too many or they may decide that 24 hours is too short a duration.
4. Administrators, Elite Moderators, Moderators and <a href="http://www.elitefitness.com/reports/platinum/" target="_blank">Platinum Members</a> cannot be banned in this way.
5. Lastly, giving Negative Karma still functions the way it always has in every other way. Specifically, when you give a negative karma hit <img src="http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/images/reputation/ltred.gif">, it subtracts half the value of your Karmic Power from a member's total Karma Hits.
