How do you survive against a biased teacher?

ok this is getting REALLY

i'm in my honors government (took it because i wanted an easy A so i decided to take honors rather than AP) class and it's only been the second week...

the first day of class we were to turn in our summer projects. the same day he talked about how america's government was the greatest out there and dictatorships had NOTHING good about them. So i raised my hand and POLITELY said he should not be biased and teach these students that know nothing about gov. right away that dictatorships are ALL bad. so he got pissed and talked to me outside for a min. and said i could not call him biased and it's only day ONE and i don't even know him so i said sorry and sat down. (probably the reason for the following) anyways, I worked really hard on it with a friend and my paper was SOOOO well written/informative/strong and good points brought up on parts where he asked for our opinion.

anyways i expected a 100 on it no problem (not out of wholehearted cockiness but because i am smarter than literally everyone in the class because most of the students at my level chose to take AP).

so i get my paper back and i got an 89...
and the dumbass wrote 0 comments as to WHY i got an 89 and not higher.

so later that night i ask my friend who i worked on the project with (the guy who is not as smart as me and his paper had fewer facts, weak opinion, etc.) and he got a 98.

i then ask a cheerleader friend of mine who had been up at like 4 AM the first day of school rushing it and finishing it (she did not read either book pertaining to the project) and she wrote 3 pages. HE SAID ON THE PAPER MINIMUM OF 6 PAGES now it's ok if my other friend got a high A because he is pretty smart. But this girl is an ALL C or D student and cannot write at ALL. her average few sentences in the paper is "presidents work hard on campaigns. They work alot and go around to get voters. It is expensive to get voters but they have to work hard to get them."

she's cool and all but did NOT deserve a point over a 70 on the project. She gets a 96.

i thought perhaps maybe i overestimated my skills and i did not write as well as i could of. But i read both of these people's projects and compared them to mine. Mine had superior vocabulary, more info, more everything that a teacher could want. anyways i ignored this and said oh well ill just ace every test/quiz and do all the HW and keep a high A in the class it's no problem.

we take our first test. The guy is a horrible liar. Says it will cover the TYPES of government (republic, monarchy, dictatorship, etc.) and stuff like john locke's theories. The guy puts like 2 questions on what a democracy is and the REMAINDER of the test is on IRAQ. Keep in mind my cheer friend knows absolutely NOTHING about iraq. He said to assess iraq and give your OPINION on the bush doctrine, etc. My friend did not even know the bush doctrine n she wrote about 2 sentences saying oh we should not be at war. And i go into great detail about the threat of nuclear warfare with other nations, the extension of big stick diplomacy bush is trying to show, etc. (he said this was opinion so he CANT take off points for it being my opinion).

on test about 4 dumb kids i know all got low 90's - 92, 93, 90, 95

i get an 87.....and this time i am POSITIVE i am being treated unfairly because i wrote so many strong responses to his essay Qs and no one else even knew what the qs were ABOUT.

what would you guys do in this situation? talking to him probably won't work since he already doesn't like me. and i keep producing superior work and getting lower than fair grades. this is VERY and my teacher is a prick.

cliff notes - alot dumber friends of mine get high As on stuff that i do MUCH MUCH better than them and get Bs on. It's not like im the only one who thinks so. Even asked my friends and they say my stuff is way better than the BS n dumb stuff they wrote. this guy hates me n i don't know how to change it because i really dont like being marked off unfairly...but if i argue with him about it im sure hell take more off so should i just leave it be?

Neither was I. Teachers just don't like to be challenged in front of the class. I had to bite my tongue several times in my college Govt. class. My ex wife was rude about it though. I was embarrassed for the poor teacher.

agreed. I guess i have to do it to keep a good grade. or just accept the fact that when your disliked in an opinion based grading system (english, anything with essays and presentations etc) your grade is selected before you even turn in your first assignment...

i was a "b" student in my english class in 10th grade, mostly because the teacher didnt like my writing style, but partly because he didnt like me.... i had the highest scoring studnet in the class help me on one of my papers and i used to go in during lunch to talk with the teacher and get help....always got Bs on my papers.

i wanted to trade papers with the best scoring kid in the class, just to see if i still got a B and he still got an A, but it wasnt worth the expulsion/suspension /consequences...

i knew it was a battle i couldnt win, so i stopped trying, stopped being respectful, and started being an idiot and disrupting class whenever i had th echance.

still got Bs, but had alot more fun

A relatively new country and government that is has rose to become the worlds leading economic and the worlds only superpower? Sounds like you are the biased one trying to think you are smarter than a professor who studied this and these issues is whole life. There's alot to be said for humility, I used to get so sick of new freshman punks that are completely ignorant of basically everything in life think they have all the answers when I was an undergrad. Try and check your notions at the door and learn from the professor, thats why you go to college, to have the professor teach you and learn his curriculum and teachings. He teaches his curriculum and you regurgitate it back and he tests you on how well you understand what he is saying. How else is a professor sposed to grade you? By how much time you put into a project, even though you state things completely incongruent with his concepts he's been blathering on about it class, you dont have to agree with what he is saying, just demonstrate the abiity to understand and retain and then regurgitate it back. If he thinks your positions lack historical and global perspective then you should get a lower grade than someone that doesnt know what the hell is going on b/c you bought into the propaganda of others who dislike the US government. I dont know you, but raising your hand on the first day of class and telling the prof he is biased is like the dumbest laughable fucking thing to do. Ive taken many courses and told professors off but AFTER the course was over or after I dropped the course. You should have dropped the course if you felt that way. Just chalk this up to being stupid, live and learn and take some psychology and sociology classes as well so that you get a clue about this stuff. I had a prof that flat out stated he was a racist in some stupid elective liberal studies course and I simply dropped it, you cant expect a man who devotes his life to a subject and teaching to not get fucking pissed at some punk walking and labelling him biased the first day. i did NOT say this. I am saying he said word for word that America was the best government while the rest are all negative and should all just change to America's system. He talked about every other system negatively n ignored the positives. My personal opinion is that all governments have positives and negatives. I do not know which one is the STRONGEST because i have not researched all of them. but i DO know that none of them are perfect so to show one as perfect and the rest as full of flaw IS being biased.


and i DID apologize to him. When he got all butt hurt i told him i am sorry i did not mean it in a disrespectful fashion i just wanted to ask you why you did not show positives of any form of government besides America's...

then he kind of just snarled and did a homosexual sigh and told me to sit down.

if your teacher is so narrowminded as to truly undermark you, chances are then that he will also refuse to back down - so, short of independent review, youre in a very tight spot
