How do you know if your overtaining?

How do you know if your overtraining or im just tired from the test im on (750 mgs). I know test can make you tired, but so can over training. Right now im getting about 8 hours a sleep but most days I end up takeing a nap. (2 hour). Im just doing a basic 4-5 day a week workout but I also takeing 2 hour martial arts class twice a week. They are pretty tireing but nothing totally horrible.

Well it sounds like your only hitting each body part once a week. So thats pretty hard to over train esp on test. You should recover a bit quicker in your recovery.

Are you sleeping 8 hours and taking a 2 hour nap =10 hours...or are you mainly just getting 2 hours sleep.

Normally if your are suffering from over training you will see a loss of appitite, feel weeker, longer periods of soreness, and over all tiredness.

Just based on the 411 you've given, I'd say no. Like The Barbarian Brothers used to say There is no overtraining-only undereating, undersleeping, and failure of the will.

I don't necessarily believe that old skool credo. Overtraining comes in many different forms.
Being stressed out from a shitty relationship or an asshole boss at work can increase cortisol levels which can effect recovery=overtraining.

Training too heavy too often can result in sore joints/injury=overtraining.

Being less than enthusiastic about going to the gym=overtraining(not to be confused with laziness).

Too many sets per bodypart=overtraining

Never, ever, taking a day off=overtraining

Getting an issue of Muscle & Fatness and an issue of Penthouse in the mail on the same day and you open the Muscle & Fatness first=overtraining. (having these kind of priorities almost guarantees you need to take a day off and get laid)

Anyway, just listen to your body. Chances are if you're eating/sleeping enough, your RX program is in order, you're not getting injured or feeling extremely sore everyday, and your attitude towards training is good, you're probably OK.

nope, Im getting 8 hours, and I dont know what nodes are but sleeping isnt a problem and Im not sore all over. So I guess its not atleast I know now if I ever do overtrain. I dont want to ever do that so Im just gonna stick with hitting each body part once a week

Here are symptoms of overtraining:

Lack of appitite
Trouble sleeping
Anxiety
Depression
Fatigue
Weight/Strength loss
Muscle soreness/body ache
Lowered Libido

Overtraining is no joke. It can really screw you up mentally. I went through it awhile back and wondered what was wrong with me. I was never depressed or had anxiety etc.. All of a sudden, I could barely choke down my food, couldn't sleep, felt depressed and was making no gains(losing) lifting. I took a couple weeks off, rested and ate a lot. I felt SOOO much better and finally eased back into my workout. My problem was staying up too late and not eating enough protein, while working out and doing too many activities.

If you feel tired, it can be many things. If you are still making gains lifting and don't have many other symptoms, then you probably aren't overtraining. You could have allergies, a cold(sometimes no other symptoms then tired), stress from work etc.. I would cut down your workouts to 3 days a week if you are going to be doing MA also. I think that too much extra cardio, while lifting really stresses the body too much. You are using a lot of your resting/rebuilding energy on the cardio.

yea thanks I def dont think im overtraining and now realize I prob never have. Im not doing any cardio cause I dont really haveany time

You are growing. Your body needs rest to grow....and food too. Eat big, lift big, rest big.....be BIG!!!
