You should still be able to get a day off even if it's not a "vacation day." All they should need is a bit of notice.
Ok I could be honest and tell them why but then there are the chances they will say no you can't have the day off and I will have to leave Friday night and not get there tell like 2 am and miss the womans figure and fitness deal which is why I want to go in the first place.jenscats5 said:

I don't know what kind of job you have but if you say you're sick and hence you take the day off, they should have the courtesy of not calling your home and bother you there.

That's sad. The reason you have the day off is to be at home and sleep and recuperate. Calling you at home and bugging you completely opposes what you're trying to do -- get better.
just stay at home and turn the phone off. if they bug you -- say you wanted to get some sleep.

Do what my mom did last week .... she needed a day of from work ..I told her to take 2 niacin tabs at work (I fooled her in taking it before 
so she knew what to expect) ..so she did and after 45 min or so she was covered in red spots and had a itchy skin ...before she even noticed it her colleagues where worried about her asking if she had an allergy or came in contact with some strange chemical.... a gay guy even came to her asking if she was in her menopause ... all she said was "I do feel a little bit sick" and she went home ...everybody bought it, it's so easy but be creative there is no fun in using standard excuses
