How do get past fat gain while bulking?

well guys...... when i bulk i always end up pulling out of it cuz i put on fat and i hate it. (last time it was real bad cuz i couldn 't get to the gym ever cuz of personal reasons) but i realize some fat gain is inevitable..... that doesn't stop me from basicly despising myself when i put on fat.... past week i cut most of the gained fat off. im looking very slim again. Ready to start bulking again tommorrow but im worried im going to pull out. its just i remember how i was 2 years ago when i was much chunkier.... i hated it. Im going to tweak my diet this time but any mental strategies to help ignore the fat gain?

I dont reccomend trying to bulk without lifting weights.haha Make sure you can train often this time around. As far as a strategy for ignoring fat gain, just concentrate on your increased strength and overall muscle gains, and dont worry about gaining a little fat. For me, it is much easier to get lean then it is for me to gain muscle. It seems to take an eternity sometimes! haha However my strength increases pretty nicely without a change in weight, and often my measurements increase without changing weight as well. Hope that helps

Im in the same boat,I hate bulking due to the fat I put on because it takes me forever to cut. this time I am going to start wearing xl shirts and aslong as the shirt hangs off my pecs and not my fucking gut I will bulk and I am staying the hell out of the mirror which is not realistic for my vain ass but I will try.

thats all I can really think of bro

ye i have a huge ass mirror in my bathroom here. I am going to try not to look while i bulk, but im gonig to take after pics and compare them to the befores.

One thing you can do is try to eat mostly clean carb sources like oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, etc. I've noticed the most fat gain when I eat things like soda, white bread, sugar.

I've asked around and have discovered most of the competitors who do 6-8 month mass building phases usually bulk to a certain level of bodyfat (predetermined), then cut for 2-4 weeks or to a certain level of bodyfat. This allows them to stay comfortably close to their competition levels of bodyfat so they don't have to diet down for months.

That sounds like a really goos system for doing things.

ANother thing you can do, is to change your diet slowwwly. Start by adding 4-500 calories per day per week. For example if you are currently doing 2500 kcals per day, next week go to 2900-3000 kcals per day. It takes longer, but the size you gain, should be leaner.

try to have a realistic goal and stick to it .. dont pull out until you've reached ur goal.

if you absolutely feel like shit, and u consider cutting, give it a week before comitting to it (7 day rule). if after a week, you still feel like cutting, then you may as well go ahead.

You dont need to get excessively fat during bulking IMO. If you closely monitor your caloric intake so that you are only taking in 200 extra calories a day, then you will gain muscle and not put on too much fat. 1 pound of fat=3500 calories

The problem is, with only slight overeating you only have slight gains. If you really want good gains just say "fuck it," and eat 1000+ over maintenance. Try to pick a program that has you working muscle groups more frequently.

True, but it also comes down to the individual's metabolism. After a leaning out phase, I can start gaining weight just by adding an additional 500 calories per day. But without knowing Boardin087, i guess we are all just speculating.

I think I may start doing this. 2-4 wks sounds a lot better than 8-10 wks. lol.

I don't care if I am fat as long as I can run a 4.9 forty, do the splits, and bench 500 pounds raw.

j/k I just like to come up for justifications for being a lardass

Casual bb, I think I have to disagree with you on this one. I think people overestimate the amount of muscle they actually gain while bulking just because they are getting bigger but a lot of that size is fat. I've seen it alot and done it myself too.
