Tell them they need to take a second look at Mexico. It's still a third world nation. Mexico City has 2 million homeless that take their morning pee in the river. That's like asking why Ethiopia doesn't have a better basketball program.

Um... actually I've been working with the same guy since the '80s. When I first met him he weighted maybe 135lbs. Then one day he showed up in San diego and he was pushing 200lbs... jacked through the roof... and all the guys working for him since are jacked jacked jacked.
There are some very big strong Mexicans... and I've worked out down at their gyms... these guys push some weight.
The difference is... they don't have a culture that overly respects the time we waste on bodybuilding. Mexican culture in general values work, family, religion... not big delts.

Ethiopia is a bad example, a western African nation would make more sense.
Asked the hotel staff and water sports staff in Cancun how uch they make and said they were making $7/ day , all they think about is making enough to feed their family and put clothes on them...Don't think a rediject running at $9 is worth the trade off for them....That like the rich saudis asking us why don't we drive Benzs. Or why their taxis are benzs and ours are crown vics

I second that. I live on the west coast, and the amount of money companys are spending in India and China to outsource is just obscene. And its costing american's their jobs - big time. The government got us NAFTA and then we go and ignore it and buy from India and China.
Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, all places where we can go to get cheap labor and cheap intelectual talent, if only those countries would market themselves properly. When times are bad and america needs her friends do you think China will be there!! At least Australia sent troops to the Iraq war.
Moral of the story (while i get off my soap box), support your friends first.
