Honor Killing in Canada

We canucks have been following this story for close to 2 yrs now and today, these "people" were convicted of 1st degree murder.

Shafia jury finds all guilty of 1st-degree murder - Montreal - CBC News

I saw new coverage yesterday where they interviewed Shafia's family in Afghanistan and they were told what was going on with the trial and the murder and the grandfather of these dead girls said "Yes, he did right, I would have taken those girls, cut them up and put them in bags"

This is not the first honor killing in our country.

Well, if it is for religion that makes it different though I guess. God may not have the same plan for others that he has for us. There is no telling what God told them to do.
 
I have been following this case and I'm very happy for the guilty verdict. It's long overdue.

Smurf, this father found a pic of his daughter doing one of these "My Space" poses in her bathroom mirror with a bra and panties. She was seriously a knock out, so this crazy man and his wife, killed all 3 of his daughter and his other wife.

They shamed the family! I think they forget, they are in CANADA where we do not accept their sick and twisted laws of killing for honor!

Long overdue and this trial cost over a million and now, it will cost Canada over 100 grand a year to keep him, his wife and his son jailed.

Like my boyfriend says, "if they are not secluded, they will be targets" I saw we do testing on them like we do on animals.

Death would be quick, they need to feel in fear for the next 25 yrs hoping that some sick murdered in the cafeteria line won't stick them in their lungs.
Living in fear would be a much better punishment, but yeah, they are useless to the planet, so "off the planet" would be ok too! Though I still am all for using these monsters for product testing and leave innocent animals alone

No death penalty in Canada......We abolished it many years ago.

Not sure if it's the religion itself, but more of a way of life.
This is why Canada needs to make tougher immigration laws for letting people in from counties that participate in honor killings.

We have a lot of very religious Muslims in Montreal

Its a shame that a few radical people give the religion a bad name. The sad part is the 3 daughters were only trying to probably fit in with other teens their own age and this is what they receive. Very sad

I'm glad these animals will be locked up. Hope they suffer horrible abuses in prison too, and it gets highly publicized. Let it be a message to any other ethnics who think that their shit from the homeland is going to fly over here.
 
They will probably get shanked in prison long before sentance is up......

They got 25 yrs, no chance for parole. And Canadian prisons are not comfy! They will probably end up in seclusion the entire time.

Well I can tell you, there are still a lot of nut jobs here who refuse to conform to a civilized way of life.

Here in Montreal, we have the Muslims offended by our xmas decor and complained to one city, so the city took down all the xmas decor to "appease" the Muslim community.
NOW THIS is what Canada needs to STOP doing, conforming to their way of life since they need to conform to our way of life.

We are pussies here in Canada. This shit would never fly in Texas!

Correction; Monsters not animals! Animals don't kill their kids in the name of honor. Animals kill to eat and to survive!

Animals are way more humane than most humans, but don't get me started ;-)

And I agree, this sends a strong msg to their homeland that we are civilized. But not sure this will stop what they believe. There have been 12 honor killing in Canada since 1999.

I wonder how many women are secretly being tortured by these aholes.
We had a Muslim patient at the clinic who's husband had to sit in at every consult. When she was asked to remove her Hijab so we could examine her, he refused to let her take it off.
She secretly came back to see us a month later in tears saying how unhappy her life is. She was suicidal! I don't follow her any longer so not sure where it ended up, but bottom line, these women need to know they are safe in Canada and that we have agencies to protect them.
I would like to come face to face with one of these coward scum bags one day! I'll show them what North American woman are made of!

I totally agree that a town shouldn't have to take down their Christmas decorations because it offended another religion. My only problem with the sentiment is that if Muslims put up city-wide decorations for one of their holy days, the same people complaining over having to take down Christmas stuff would probably be the ones offended over Muslim displays.

No religion or lack thereof should have to conform, IMO. That's ridiculous whether it Be Muslims catering to Christians or Christians catering to Muslims. Others' beliefs and displays of them shouldn't offend anyone to the point they can't even look at such a thing. It's so close-minded.

(Not talking about you, I obv don't know you enough to say, but generally speaking).
 
I'm not religious, so seeing xmas decor or not is not an issue with me, My issue is, xmas decor has been a North American tradition for 100's of years and for a religious group that is pretty "new" to North America to request a tradition to change because they are offended is disgusting.

Xmas is not about religion in most cases, but about tradition. North Americans certainly cannot walk into a Muslim country and demand they change their traditions. Example, to me a hijab is offensive because it represents repression of women, but if I moved to Iraq and asked the city to tell women to remove their hijabs, I would find myself without a head or stoned to death.

My point, if immigrants come into a country and cannot conform to their ways/traditions, they they should not enter the country.

That's why America and I'm guessing Canada is different than other countries. You're right. You can't go to the middle east and expect to be accommodated. So what are you saying? We should be like the middle east? In most cases, you're right. But the entire reason North America exists and the entire reason it's great is because people can come here and be themselves, not bc they can come here and turn in to you. The entire point of our countries is for people to be able to believe and practice whatever suits them.

I didn't say anybody should have to take down Christmas decorations. What I'm saying is its ridiculously hypocritical when many of the people who demand they have the right to put them up, don't want to give that right to Muslims. We know damn well if a Muslim tried to publicly display anything the same crowd would be causing a shit show.

You know what I think is disgusting? Intolerance and the fact that we, as people, are getting so offended by the fact that people live different lives and practice different cultures than us, that we'd rather kill all signs of culture so we can walk around in a safe, self-centered bubble of ignorance without having to be reminded that there are people different than us out there.

I'm sick and tired of immigrants who have no intention if integrating. They need to change the specs; if you do not learn at least functional english (or french, in Canada) within 4 years of arriving as an immigrant, you should be deported. It just shows that you aren't even trying. Get with the program, or get the fuck out.


And before people start with the 'you're a racist/redneck' bullshit, my grandparents on my mother's side were immigrants...and my father is an immigrant. And in all cases, they worked hard and learned the language and embraced Canadian culture (while still enjoying their own culture to a degree).

I agree we need to stop letting the identity of our country be stomped into the ground. im all for helping people have better lives,but I think we should be doing it like austrailia and if they want to come over they live "the canadian lifestyle" or go home.

exactly dude,immigrants like our grandparents were damn proud to be in this country and embraced all it had to offer, they did not try and make it new ireland. and quite frankly im tired of living in little india. thats why I live in the country,surrounded by grateful immigrants,mostly mexicans dutch,irish etc,all hard workers and all happy to be in a great country.

I don’t think it’s a way of life just cause you’re from a largely Muslim country. I have a friend that’s from Jordan that’s Christian something like 90% of the population is Muslim. Anyways my point is that he doesn’t believe in that shit at all. He’s Arab but not at all conservative from conversations with him a good part of his community is liberal. So why should he get screwed over in the immigration process because the majority of his home country if Muslim? It is really a case by case bases.

I think the main issue is Canada’s view of a melding pot. We do not encourage assimilation you can live in larger cities and never learn English your entire life and get by with no real issue.

We offer everything with the ability to have an interpreter. Ever get a traffic ticket in this country get a dam interpreter unless you kill someone they toss out the case cause shit takes 2-3 times longer to go through the process in english.

This is so very true. My grandparents came here from Poland and were so grateful just to live in peace and have jobs.
They learned the culture and shared the beautiful part of their culture with others.

I'm all for anyone practicing anything they like, cept twisted and sick customs like honor killings. I am also offended by women covering their faces. In my country, we show our faces!

I live in a major multi cultural Canadian city and since I was a little girl (I'm now 45), I've grown up with, went to school with and was neighbors with many other cultures (including Muslims) and back then, when humans were a little classier, we all respected each other differences. But today, immigrants go to other countries with an entitlement and yeah for me, I have ZERO tolerance for that!
It's not ignorance on my part, it's not wanting other cultures to push themselves on me. Just like I don't want Jehovah's ringing my doorbell at 10 am on a Saturday morning to tell me to believe or I will never get to paradise.

Not sure where you live, but do you have a large multi cultural community around you?

I've lived everywhere. Right now I live in a good sized city, all colors, all religions. I've also lived in a totally white washed CT Suburb and in New York City.

It's not a weird think to say you wanted things to be like in the Middle East. You said if you went to the Middle East, they wouldn't accommodate your belief and culture which to me implied a thought process of "they wouldn't do it, so why should we". But if we didn't accommodate others' beliefs, we wouldn't be the countries we are. We'd be the middle east.

I agree you shouldn't have to have others' beliefs shoved in your face. Totally agree, but I think those things need to be all or nothing. Either everyone can display their culture and religion equally or nobody can, but saying nobody can is sad to me, so I'd prefer all.

I also agree with saying that people should learn the language, but it's solely for efficiency and understanding between people in your community, not because I think anyone should conform to a culture.

How long did you live in NYC? The angst in that city is by far the worst and New Yorkers want other cultures to assimilate. Americans are fed up of immigration more than Canadians are.....well cept you!

For the record though, you aren't high. I never said in any posts that you said Canada should be like the middle east. In my opinion, thinking people need to conform to your cultural beliefs whether that end in beheading or a wishful deportation in Canada, they're the same idea, no matter how one tries to differentiate between the two by pointing out the different outcomes. Because in my opinion, the middle eastern outcome is terrible and sickening, yes, but the general idea of "you must be like us" is equally terrible.

And that's the end for me. :)
 
How about Sikhs not having to wear a helmet if they are cops because removing their turban is against their religion? So the only time you are allowed to ride a motorcycle in Canada without a helmet is if you're Sikhs.

How about the fact that Sikhs in construction have submitted a request that they should not be forced to wear hard hats because they have to wear their turban?

P.S. First request got accepted and second is under consideration. Why complain about women wearing hijab when they are not trying to change laws?

Sorry, let me correct that, I have no issues with Hijabs for everyday use as long as wearing one does not break rules. My real issue is with Burqas.
The issue I have with Hijabs are when girls refuse to remove them when the law requires like the woman prison guard in Montreal who refused to remove her hijab or the young girl playing soccer who refused to remove her hijab to play.
Hell, wear a superman cape on the street, I really don't care, but it's when rules are not followed and they want special accommodation for religious purposes.
Like the turban issue!
Burqas need to be outlawed in public in all of North America in my opinion!

by the way, there is not a single place in the quoran or anywhere in Islam that says Burkas are required to be worn by women. only hijab is required. burka is a fabrication by fanatics like Iranian dictator fuckdipshit
 
P.S. why the heck should it matter if a girl is wearing a hijab playing soccor? I could see how a burka can be unsafe, but a hijab? it's not like she has to wear a face mask or a helmet playing soccor

Both examples you just gave are total bullshit...they should have been told to either lose the headwrap or choose another mode of transportation or occupation.
