I have a Kenwood 500 watt 5 speaker system. You can use Dolby or DTS.

mine is a 80" Mitsubishi...w 5 polk audio towers w 100w amps inside..fed by a carver XT700.....oh! its party time again... RADAR

46" inch rear proj mitsubishi with an aiwa surround sound system hooked up. Simple and sweet. I'm going to go flat panel in the next three years though and get an altech lansing speaker set up. Best bank for the buck in speaker systems.

In the Den I have.......
19" SHARP mono, Non Cable ready, with a killer Rabit Ears Setup...

Just one of about 11 fucking TV's in our house most turned on 15 hours a day.
I should buy stock in Florida Power...

5.1........

each signal is directed to a seperate speaker. R and L-front and back, center, and of course..........subwoofer. As with a plasma screen, its risky because they are so delicate, you could have permanent damage just from delivery to your house. Better wait until technology gets better and fragility is lessened. Expensive also! But what a sweet pic it is, almost like being there..No wait! Better than.....

Receiver-get the heaviest one. Sound funny? just get one that you can hardly pick up, they have the better goodies inside.

Center speaker, get the best you can afford. It's where most of the sound comes from in 5.1. The r-l front and back ones can be less quality.

And for Sub's get one with adjustable volume.

Also use optical cable in connecting everything together.

You had me at 5.1.

After reading all this. Who can anwser the question? How much do cables play a role?? speaker,inter-connects etc...???
I have all Boston Acoustics, 300 watt sub, Sony es Receiver,Yamaha cd player and sony dvd.
Now I am using 9 gauge speaker wire(huge) and I spent $200 in the connects from the cd to the receiver.. I know insane but DAMN does it sound fine....

I have all optical cables connecting my components. Saves the hassle of all that matching and finding out which ones go where...bla...bla...bla.

I always subscribe to using the largest speaker wire you can. No reason, because I've been told that it doesn't matter, but i too love the sound.

I've got BA's all around....love those speakers

poon daddy

How much do cables play a role??

They can make all the difference in teh world. Went to a guys house in town who had just ordered $800 power cords for each piece he had. He played a DVD with the old cords, sounded great. Hell it should he had over 50 Gs invested, thats nuts but oh well it rocked. He then pluged in teh new powercords and everyone there thought it was a scam. I said he unpluged some of his speakers but he didnt, it just made that big of a difference. Now this is to teh extream but it proves cables make a difference but not much of one if you dont spend the money on great Receiver, speakers DVD players, etc. With all AV equip there is a real reason behind higher prices unlike other things like clothes. Anyways my extra 0.02 worth.

Oh yeah I only have my TV, bed, movie rack, and dresser in my room. Not room for anything else. But hey pornos rock on the big screen, tits bigger than your head and surround sound moaning, some chicks like it also.

Back home I have a Toshiba 51", with 400 watts sound system
pretty fun :)

compared to my room at work and my mighty 27"

cables have a large role in the sound quality...i use the best monster cable and speaker wire it's 99.9 oxygen free copper...RADAR

I haven't posted this in awhile. Not pictured 2 NHT 1.5s for the rears, 2 NHT SW2Pi Subs, 1 NHT SW1P Sub, 2 pair Boston Acoustic Marine Speakers outside. All Audioquest Amazon interconnects and all Audioquest Everest speakerwire.

Would that system on that 27" screen be the same as the guy with the 2" dick driving a Porsche?

(just kidding, dude! I'll have to get a pic of my Martin-Logan setup for ya!)

13 Inch Magnovox Tv and VCR Combo, antennae doesn't work and there is not back to the remote control. I do not watch television.

Hey i just left this customers house today they complained of double images on the screen.....got there they had a 60" Proj. TV in an 8 ft X 8ft room with a coutch wedged in front of it..and for reception- a crummy set of rabbit ear antennas........the pic would double or (ghosting) as we call it when you got too close or walked by......people kill me...spend 2 grand for a tv/spend 3 dollars and 99 cents for an antenna....LMAO!!!!! RADAR

32" screen, but yeah...pretty much.

I live in a very very old house and there are columns and doors everywhere in the living room. The only wall that was wide enough to hold all the stuff is also facing the narrowest part of the livingroom. A bigger TV was too close for the small viewing area. I have a Mitsi 40" tube, but I had to put it in my bedroom.

Funny you said that because when I went house shopping last year (when I bought the place I now own). My first concern was where my 70" Hitachi would fit and was the living big enough for the Martin-Logans.

Ruled out like 75% of the places I was looking at!!!

Later, I'm going to watch "Hannibal" on my system!:D

why would anyone have this bad ass stereo system and a little tv

we haev a 61" sony, and teh usual stereo stuff
i dunno, but dread lord is obsessive about it, meaning it is measured out and our living room dimensions had to be perfect in the apartment we moved in - which limited where we lived..
blah i just woje up so i don t think this maks sense
