getting ready to paint the outside of the bywater money pit.

home depot has a behr exterior paint with a built in primer. supposed to last longer, resist peeling, yada yada yada....

i don't want to paint the front of this victorian monster and all the related gingerbread trim any more frequently than i have to...wondering if the paint/primer combo is worth it?

Behr is pretty good paint. The most expensive of the Sherwin Williams exterior is better, even. I've never used primer and paint combo. Usually, I only use a tinted primer if I'm making a huge color change or a specific purpose primer if I'm painting over something that needs to be primed, like wood, plastic, metal, etc.

The way you boys build levees in N.O. I'd say something waterproof.
i'm using latex house paint, not your choice of anal lube.... :artist:

i never tried the combo, and the only thing i have to have painted outside would be the paddock fence.

i would go to sherwin williams, not lowes/home depot. if THEY have a combo, and they reccommend it, then go for it, but for something this important, you don't want to make an error to save a few dollars per gallon.

behr is a good brand, but sherwin williams has a better rep.

the federal agency i am employed by, the dept of ag, does not build levees.
