If you live in Southern Maryland and work in the DC area it would be worth it for you to move to the the Northern Virginia side of DC just to save yourself a shit load of money on energy bills come August.!

Utility Price Shock Coming in August
Bills to Rise 30% to 50% in Some Maryland Buildings
By Peter Behr
Special to The Washington Post
Friday, May 7, 2004; Page E01

The electricity bills that arrive at many large offices, condominium and apartment buildings in the Maryland suburbs in August will carry stunning price increases of 30 to 50 percent, adding to the region's burden of higher energy costs, utility and industry officials confirm.

Thank God, all I have to do is open some windows, and the house gets cooled off pretty quick.

I need to sign up for the bill leveling option, where they level off your energy bills for the year, just so your bills aren't spiked during the peak season.

Be sure to watch any balance shifts though you don't want to get any large annual adjustments.

Last summer was bizarre. Pepco was doing an estimation of my usage during the summer, and I was paying out for some relatively huge electric bills.

Then in September, they did an actual meter reading and determined I didn't owe them anything for the next 3 months, because their estimates were so high.

Did they give also give you 10% interest for 3 mnths on your money?

I don't know if the district has this rule but a lot of states do for over payments.

LOL, stupid me, I didn't check the bills to see if they did give back anything.

This year, I will.

If you were interested in saving money in general it would probably be smart to move to the virginia side...

I switched gas companies because they said they would be cheaper. 10-40% or some high number, they told me. The bill is $2 cheaper every month, whether it totals $10 or $150! lol it`s still $2 less. How can that be? It seems like they see what my original co. was charging and take $2 off, period. It should be a cheaper rate, not just xx off.

Why did I type this?
