Officer Gay said:hey guys, i don't think it's any coincedince the yankees are so good and destiny seems to follow them around, just look at who started pitching today a white guy for the yankees and a black guy for the diamondbacks, now i don't know about you but where i come from if the white man doesn't beat the black man we prosecute him for embarrassment to our race, and hang him then we hang the black guy anyway

thebabydoc said:Actually DOT, it takes as little as the home plate ump calling the first pitch a ball or a strike to change the entire game and significantly sway the game in one direction or another.
Also a manager that continues to let players play (e.g. Torre-Justice) when there is no earthly reason to suspect that the player will even lay the bat on the ball.
A pitcher hangs one or two curves...
It's not as difficult as you may think...

YANKEES IN 6
thebabydoc said:1. You are out of your mind if you think that Schilling will or can pitch 9, let alone 7 innings if it gets to Sunday.
Sure he can
2. You are downright delusional if you think Schilling had anything left after inning#7 on Wednesday. Schilling even admitted as much yesterday. Brenly may be a shithead, but what he said was true. It's Garragiola's fault that Brenly has no one else but BK to go to for 3 INNINGS.
Ya you are right that's why he was throwing harder in the seventh inning than he was the first 6. The last pitches he threw were all above 95mph. Did you watch the game? Did you see when Schilling was pleading with Brenly to go back out? The only reason I and many many others think he came back and said that yesterday was to cover Brenly's ass so that he doesn't catch any more heat.
3. I am not insinuating that there was a major fix here; I just think that maybe Torre is betting the "under" line
LMAO Ya that's it.. Torre is betting on baseball in the most prolific World Series in the most prolific city in the USA right now.
4. And rudedawg, please don't put words in my mouth or infer anything other than what is said. I do not believe that "both teams are in on the fix," my posts discuss changing the odds of the game.
I did not "put" words in your mouth..... you made the references..... and I interpreted them
I love the Yankees, but the coaching from Torre is not what we have seen in the past...he is either excessively playing his loyalties or something else is going on.
Super Girl 22 said:The yankees have an amazing team. they pay enough for all their players and that is because they know how to win. they have a winning team, winning coaches & managers and winning fans who never give up on our NY team.
YANKEES IN 6
First of all, that's the Mets you are talking about. As far as NY teams and tradition go, the Mets fall behind the Yankees, Giants, and the Dodgers. Secondly, battery throwing aside (that's Philadelphia) that is not a lack of fan loyalty. That is how New York fans are. And Chicago fans, and Boston fans. It's the personality of East fans to scream, moan, and generally bitch out our teams when they're loosing. Every Yankee, Oriole, Cubs, Red Sox fan I know has been so for 20+ years. And no one abandoned the Mets, those were and are truly fair-weather fans. The Mets suck and they have NO TRADITION, so don't compare them to those other teams. That's why Yankee fans hate the Mets even though they don't compete (unless that's what you'd call last year's fall classic.)New York has the worst fan loyalty in all sports. If their team is losing, they lose interest. Just look how they abandoned the Mets. Once a team is on the skids, they'll hurl batteries at them.

And your comment about Schilling unfortunately shows your lack of understanding about pitching. True fastball pitchers will tend to "gas it up," that is, they'll rear back and throw harder when they have little/nothing left (before you open your mouth about BK, this dosen't count for submarine pitchers or "stoppers"). Problem is, their balls begin to lose movement, which is the only thing that makes them good, because even a single-A rookie minor-leaguer can hit a 105 MPH straight fastball. And, as I said, EVEN SCHILLING SAID HE WAS OUT OF GAS. Cover anyone's ass? Are you kidding me? Look at the last two innings- # of piches, baserunners, etc... at least Brenley's trying to manage. Unfortunately, all that Garragiola gave him are 2 pitchers and 1 hitter.
Days of the Tantric said:rudedawg It's lucky for you I didn't make it down to Arizona last month. I would have made a nice video tape of me hitting a home run off of one of those candy ass fastballs of yours. I would have posted it on my website and given everyone a link.

DOT- It's probably unnecessary to quote my entire passage, but to answer your question, my brother (who I often go to games with) is a former pitcher who is now a professional major-league scout. To add to this "limited" experience, he scouts (and I often go with him) to the games here in ARIZONA. I hope this lends enough credibility to my posts for you and RudeDawg.Days of the Tantric said:

You're speaking out of school about rudedawg. Have you ever pitched in the majors? He has. I believe he has a World Series ring. I'm 34 and i've been pitching high level baseball since high school. Any pitcher who has nothing left, regardless of whether they "gas it up" or not, will show a lower reading on the gun. They will not be throwing harder if their arm has nothing left.
Why don't you tell us where you get your information. When did you pitch? You obviously know more than anyone about this so can we see your credentials?

In fact, I'm sort of passing them along and as such, you ARE arguing with an Expert. No one called you an "armchair warrior", but I admit, that's what I am, and like I said before, playing the game does not make one an expert.
I agree with you, these are all opinions, monday-morning QB'ing to be exact. As such. they don't call for insults like "stick to looking at pussy". Just because he played the game does NOT make RudeDawg any more or less of an "expert"; for him to think so is arrogant and plain stupid.
LMAO Now I am arrogant and stupid
Hoping to end and bury this hatchet and enjoy game 7, I would love to go buy the man a beer.
Sure I can't wait for that
I'm off to see Pettite try to win his 5th world series' ring.
Oops........who knew his era would be a nice 10?? LMFAO So what is he telling you Stanton is going to do tonight?

Days of the Tantric said:Hope you're right man. His splitter looked flat last inning.
thebabydoc said:Sorry to gloat but.....
He had nothing the whole game and the Yankee hitting made him look like Cy Young yet again. Atrocious continuing to swing at nothing but balls, Posada...scary is all i can say. But you can't get away with crap like that for 7+ innings on what was left on that tired old arm...
Let's see if Mo can finish 'em off. Extra innings would be great so that we can see what mullet man has (or hasn't) got.
