Holy fuck deadlift PR!

Wow! I never was taught how to deadlift properly, but I kind of just discovered what I was doing wrong which allowed me to lift 95+ more than I normally did! I was doing 160 for 12-15 reps, and my back kept feeling like it was getting pinched. I never realized that the shoulders go over the bar. No wonder I sliced my shins up trying to keep them behind and thought I could only do conventional deadlifts!

DC style training, and today I just did 255 for 11 reps. :o

I feel like a moron. At least I know how to deadlift now!

yeah dude- like backlash said- shoulders behind the bar on deads- your shins are supposed to get sliced up... shoulders in front on olympic lifts only...

it was the same for me, when I first started doing deads i was doing them more like a stiff legged one, I got strong fast but then plateaued for the longest time. once I learned to do them right, my strength went nuts

Well I deadlift with shoulders over the bar - I do clean deadlifts. Its much like doing an RDL from the floor.

I also line up my shins to the smooth area so no tearing :)

I personally think the shoulders behind the bar style isn't as useful for non-powerlifters

Congrats on the PR brother!! Huge increase! The better you learn the technique , the more of a strength increase youll see. I dont tear my shins up when I deadlift either. Im not too sure where my shoulders are in relation to the bar, since I dont have any video of my lifts. I basically blackout during my deadlifts. Keep it up!!

i shot some video of me deadlifting a month or two ago, but i shot it in too high of resolution and can NOT post it online because of it (we're talking 20mb+ files).

i'm going to have to shoot some video again soon and get a good critique.

nice job on the PR, btw.

Just use Windows Movie maker (in XP) to recompress in WMV format, that will shrink it down 10 times smaller :)

i don't have XP.

hell, i don't even run windows anymore. yet i have no clue how to use the linux programs that do the same thing. sucks to be a non-programmer running a programmer's OS.

I look forward to seeing some video of your lifts! I still want to get some up of my deadlifting, and now that Im back again (deadlift-wise) I may shoot some stuff and post it. It may just be heavy rack pulls, and partial beast lifts off the rack for the time being. Since I dont want to deadlift off the floor just yet. That extra few inches could cause a problem for the moment. I was thinking of posting a video of my full routines. 6-8 hours in length, including rest time for the non believers, but the file would be massive. Ill get some footage eventually! Keep it up brother!! Your getting fucking strong!!
