Hold me, I had a bad dream

awww sweety that sucks. I'm sure it has a hidden meaning more than anything.

maybe you're afraid of getting something you really love in your life and then abruptly losing it.
A realtionship with a guy you really like etc..

Seriously. I woke up sweating and ran to her room. I just stood over her for at least a half hour.

I had one onetime that where I was watching my son and fell asleep watching tv. Wife came home and asked me where he was!!

Found him under water in the bathtub. That dream was almost 20yrs ago and I still remember it like yesterday.

I wonder what the message is../?
Pregnancy generally is a metaphore for the beginning of a new phase of your life or the beginning of/idea for a project.

Obviously a miscarriage would indicate that some outside force is preventing this idea/project/phase from coming to fruition.

Very insightful! Not too sure how obvious it is, but insightful none the less. :)

Dream interpretation is actually pretty easy, you just need to know a few basic tricks. Understanding the types of dreams, i.e., sometimes a dream is just a dream (your brain rehashing the events of the day or wish fulfillment), occasionally it is your subconscious showing you something that you aren't seeing or are purposely ignoring, and very rarely it's prophetic or otherwise.

When it's the subconscious communicating to you, you have to realize that the subconscious communicates in metaphors and symbols (Jung had a grasp of this, in terms of universal archetypes) not words. Occasionally you get the play on words/pun situation, very, very, very rarely is the message crystal clear. Princessa's dream could be a flight of fancy, maybe she was thinking about having a baby and her brain just took the idea and ran with it, or she's got something she would like to be doing and it keeps getting thwarted.

Muscle Mom please tell me why I had my dream lol

it scares me
Despite your mocking tone I will answer you. Nightmare type dreams generally fall under the category of flights of fancy/day rehash. Occasionally a nightmarish dream is your subconscious chastising you over something you've done that's morally wrong, but generally it's just a GIGO thing (garbage in/garbage out), IOW, you dream what you put into your head.

I have noticed a direct correlation to frequency of violent dreams with watching horror movies/playing violent video games/reading violent comics. I haven't noticed the same thing with reading horror novels, so it's the imagery that creates the impact.

Nightmares also seem to be the kind of dreams that can be generated under certain physical circumstances, i.e., you sleep in a funny position or you had some funky food just before bed. If I fall asleep flat on my back with my head rotated to the left I frequently have an unpleasant or violent dream.

How interesting! I always have vivid dreams and a theme in particuar I wish I wouldnt. I've tried the glass of water next to my bed so I can stop having the dreams but nothing stops them. I thought maybe the glass of water would "catch" it from my subconsious so to speak. I got that from a post you (musclemom) made years ago and I've done it quite a few times lol

I have dreams where bad things happen and then they really happen. And there is always some creepy link between the dream and reality - like an outfit or the same wallpaper or a song. Creepiness.

dreams don't mean shit
Whether you believe in prophetic dreams aside, plenty of Jungians would argue the point of dreams not meaning "shit."

I've discovered dreams can sometimes provide insight into facets of a person's personality, particular for people who otherwise aren't being honest with themselves. And there are plenty of inventors, scientists and even mathematicians who have "dreamed on" a problem and the answer came to them as clear as day :whatever:

The fact is, conventional medicine doesn't actually understand sleep, much less what is truly going on inside our brain when it happens (just one of many reasons why nobody knows how to "cure" insomnia). They may know the superficial readings they should be observing, but there is not one sleep specialist out there who can explain truly "why" humans (or animals) sleep. From a purely evolutionary perspective, it should have been bred out of us eons ago. It simply is not conducive to existence to be helplessly unconscious 8 or more hours a night (and we are virtually hardwired to sleep at night), from a practical perspective, sleeping more than necessary to restore health -- and that takes place in way less than 8 hours -- is just dumb.

As for dreaming, several studies have proven that dreaming is absolutely vital to your existance as well (even people who claim they never dream do dream, they just don't remember them; the ability to remember your dreams is in direct correlation to how well rested you are, as well as how interested you are in trying to remember them). One study that has stuck with me for ages was done on a bunch of cats. The researchers allowed the cats to sleep, but whenever they entered the REM state they disturbed the cats enough to bring them to a lighter sleep stage. I think it was about a week or so, and the cats all died. No good reason, they weren't being woken up, they were sleeping, but they died.
