Hit a vein -- any permanent damage????

Today I was giving myself a 3 cc shot in the glute, but I think I injected too low. While injecting I started to get a scratchy throat which got worse as the shot proceeded. Afterwards I felt light headed for about 20 or 30 seconds and was coughing. I also had some blood coming out of the injection site...not squirting but a small trickle. I proceeded to cough off and on for about 4 hours, as well as feeling a little spacey. Does this mean I hit a vein or just passed through one? I pulled back on the syringe but I may have moved it around too much after pulling back and hit a vein without knowing. Is there any lasting health problems from this - brain damage, blood clots, etc? I did a search but couldn't find any info on if there is any permanent effects from getting these off and on through the years since this is bound to happen every so often. I tend to get a little overly paranoid about these things. Thanks for any help, it is greatly appreciated.

if you aspirated and didn't see any blood, I don't think there is too much to worry about. 3cc is alot to go into a vein, but I don't think that 3cc will do you much harm, even if it was all air. It sure wouldn't be a good thing, but it could have been worse.

You should be fine. You may have injected close to a vein and as the muscle expanded to accomidate the fluid it may have flowed up the injection path into the vein. Just a thought.

Dude your totally fine. I have done it many times. Well more than I would have liked to. Your probably a little freaked out which could explain the "spacey" feeling. No worries though.You may have poked a vein, to actually have shot all 3 cc's into vein unintentionally, AND in the glute, is extremely rare, even if you did, you'll still be fine.
