Hi,
I haven't written in awhile but still vistit the boards from time to time. Apologies to those I did not write back to from my last post - they weren't impressive stats by any means and were more to show where I started and the progress made.
I hit a new PB on deadlift Friday after a grand total of 3 years lifting (Aug.) and am thinking of retiring from weightlifting for the 2nd time this year...
A few factors:
- 32 yrs old
- weigh 232 lbs
- 5' 10"
- 1st significant time in the weight room in about 2 weeks
- I have shin splints so bad it hurts to push the gas and brake pedal
- Been eating healthier
- Playing a good amount of b-ball and swimming
From Friday (10/13) - very little rest between sets:
1) Squats
warm-up
5x5 of 315
- no belt
- relatively easy although a little shaky in the end because there is a BIG difference between endurance training for 2 weeks and then hitting the weight
2) Leg Press - sets x reps x plates (per 1 side on sled)
warm-up
1 x 10 x 6 - easy
1 x 5 x 8 - easy but a few pulls and pops in the hammies and glutes
1 x 3 x 10 - relatively easy but major pulls and pops in the hammies and glutes
3) Deadlifts - sets x reps x weight
no warm-up
1 x 5 x 315 (no belt no straps)
1 x 3 x 365 (no belt no straps)
1 x 1 x 405 (no belt just wraps) and it was fucking EASY with straps
1 x 1 x 500 (straps and belt) and I am PUMPED
It started up slow and then I managed to increase speed - the outside of my pecs hurt for some reason and my lower back is a little stiff but I am VERY happy with this.
Sorry if appears as so much bragging, but I am very happy after taking significant time off and coming in and hitting it somwhat hard and finishing with a PB. AND I can now say that I have reached the following milestones which I have been pushing for for 3 years:
315 bench
405 squat
500 deadlift
It's understood that they are just numbers but it's a BIG confidence booster
I give all the credit to:
- DF 5x5
- Westside
- this forum who opened my eyes to so much
Thank You!!!
