High performance drink vs. OJ

I bought a high performance drink for my pre-workout - 26 grams of carbs and 11 grams of sugar - OJ (much cheaper) has the same amount of carbs and sugar --what's the difference if you drink a glass of OJ while you are working out or a high performance drink? Same ingredients but cheaper.

Not same ingredients, same nuritional values.

Simply Orange has the same amount of carbs and the same amount of sugar in it as a high performance drink I am drinking.

OJ will be too thick and too acidic for what your purposes. Apple juice would work (dilute it though) if you want an inexpensive natural performance drink.

the source of the sugar is an important consideration too

fructose replaces liver glycogen

Yes-the best source of carbs in sports drinks is NOT fructose. Anything but is best. Maltodextrin is a good choice-look at the label.
