RaZor Ramon said:Did you check the lan settings? And that is brazin' speed for a laptop.
jerkbox said:hmmmm....wtf.....there is nothing preset...i don't get it.
goddamnit.....i gotta get one of them wireless routers too....
nice avatron by the way....i see you've been playing with photoshop....
lucidBlue said:Thanks.
Mine came with the "1394 Net Adapter Connection" preset. I had to disable it and set up a new connection.
sh4dowf4lcon said:Bro, I promise if you call comcast, they will register the new computer as an authorized node on the network. Try this first:
open command prompt type: ipconfig/ renew
Try that it should pull an ip for the computer.
If that doesnt work then call comcast they can fix it.
Short call, their tech support is usually good.
lucidBlue said:The one that is set up now is called "Broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller"

strongsmartsexy said:Unless you want people cruzing around on your bandwidth or getting your network nailed by "war driving" I suggest you read a previous reply I had about securing your wireless network. I ackknowledge that the exceptionally skilled can still crack the WEP stuff, but that is going to be exceptionally rare. Just know that if you're expecting to do "secure" things on your wireless network and are doing things that some governement agencies might be interested in, wireless is NOT the way to go...
jh1 said:I solved the problem on my own by using a Linksys router that clones the mac that I tell it to... now I can plug in many computers behind it with no problems.
jerkbox said:went and got a router yesterday that clones the mac....shit still didn't work.....god....computers hate me
jh1 said:Hmmm not sure then mang.
What sucks is that I had to do that becuase no matter what I told the cable company it would only work with my original MAC and that computer was going bye-bye. They kept saying 'we have the new mac in there, the old one is going' but only the old one worked. Jerk-Nuts.
So I am assuming your new 'puter still can't get a DHCP address - correct?
pitbullstl said:I use my laptop for checking out Elite.......and buying and selling shit on E-Bay.......nothing more, nothing less.......could give to shits about security.
jerkbox said:^^ sweet...I went and got a new router...a microsoft one. this one actually worked. go me!
so, i guess it was the D-Link router and not me![]()
