PB gets old quick. How old are you? If you're in your 20's, PB is cool. Fresh with 21 yr. olds and bunch of shitty bars/"clubs". Personally I hate it. Every time I've gone there I always seem to run into some dumb fuck wanting to prove how tough he is (fight).

Just a week or so ago three guys followed another dude home and beat him to death over some dumb shit.

If you want to live on the beach or by the beach and money is no object, choose La Jolla and then you can visit PB when you want to slum.

For clubbing, you seem like the type that will prefer downtown/gaslamp in general.

I'm in Mission Beach, but right on the border of PB and MB. Great area to live in. A mix of different cultures, but definitely beachy and alive. High population density, close to the beach. If you are going to live in San Diego, you need to be within a bike ride's distance from the beach.

We'll see about being BFFs. I am in Philly now and some friends say that they can't compete with my West Coast Chill style, these guys say they are too East Coast Uptight.

Yea, I stayed in last night. I went out to Zia's then Bunker on Friday night with a bunch of people from work. I was the only guy among 13 women, gotta love the nursing industry :)

I hear ya. But here's my outlook - I'm 27, moving from the East Coast, and working out of my home. I want to be at the beach. The bar scene doesn't really matter to me - a) I hardly ever hit up bars and b) downtown ain't far at all (coming from someone who regularly travels 30 minutes - 1 hour to Manhattan for night life). I want to be in the middle of the action, so would rather not do La Jolla (and money IS an object).

And lol, I went to Gaslamp 2 yrs ago and proceeded to urinate all over the dance floor WHILE I was dancing. Classy

Yeah, my buddy lived on N. Riviera in MB, his backyard being the Bay. We used to walk to PB all the time when we stayed there.

lol at "compete". It may actually be too easy for me out there, considering all you West Coast "chill" dudes are nothing like me. I have a point of differentiation

that's true, if you can find your niche you can clean up.

I was in atlantic city last night, many more black and italians around than i ever see in san diego.

I know where Riviera is. I'm right here.

ok, well PB will be good for you for a while. Personally, I'd try to get further north (towards La Jolla) than south (towards MB). The further south you go the more ghetto you get. Bird Rock, Wind N Sea...very nice.

If you want Classy, then you'll go out in LA Jolla and Del Mar...but watch out for the cougars!!! I've been attacked by cougars many times in La Jolla and Del Mar.

Regardless, you'll have a blast here. I love it. It costs a shitload to live here, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. 300+ days of sunshine a year and avg. temp of 75. ocean, desert, mountains all close by. But, $200K/yr. is just upper-middle class.

Yeah, figure I'll start at PB and go from there. If after a year I absolutely love SD and my job is progressing well, then I'll probably look into buying property in a different area.

And the $$ thing thyat everyone keeps mentioning - SD is no worse (better actually, from what I've seen) than living in a suburb of Manhattan. From all the research I've done on rental properties, I'll be paying less than what I pay now.

I'm very excited tho. :) About the whole thing
