Hepatitis from inflamed liver?

Have any of you experienced this? I was asking my father, whom is a doctor, about androgen and its role in causing acne, and before he said anything on the matter he said he sees lots of people with hepatitis from and inflamed liver from people taking roids. Have any of you experienced this? I said maybe hepatitis from using a dirty needle, but I didn't think this was a common thing.

well your dad is a doctor and i am not, but maybe you misunderstood. an inflamed liver is caused by hepatitis, not the other way around. hepatits B and C can be caused by dirty needles, or sex. maybe the roid users your dad was talking about were sharing needles. this is not that uncommon among young guys, especially on kids on high school teams.

dr08, got to WebMD and do a search on hepatitis. i had Hep A years ago, which is a milder form often caused by tainted food. what a horrible disease, it makes you feel just horrible.

I Agreed: In oklahoma a doctor & nurse us a dirty needle on alot of people. most of the people in up with hepatitis.
Roid use has nothing to do with hepatitis. :coffee:

inflamation and hepatitus are one and the same thing - an inflamed liver is a hepatic liver and vice versa. Whether a person can end up with inflamation from roid use I don't know. If so he can be said to have hepatitus, and therefor, to hve contracted hepatitus from roid use. These are the facts about inflamation/hepatitus; I don't know whether the liver can become inflamed - but from all the things I have heard about liver damage from incorrect use of roids I don't expect it is impossible that imflamation of the liver is one of the ' possible ' side effects of steroid use. I was quite surprised myself guys when I found out a couple of years ago that hepatitus meant nothing more than inflamation of the liver. I always thought you had to contract some kind of virus - which is the case with certain types of inflamation,e.g., A,B,C,D,E,F, etc.

interesting post solid. you may be right. there are several diseases that have a similar set symptoms but may be caused by different agents. pneumonia can be viral, bacterial, and fungal. dysentary can be caused by a bacteria or a protozoan. meningitis can be viral or bacterial. i had always thought of hepatitis as being caused by a virus also.

I am 53 years old and know a lot of people who have been on gear for a long time, have not met anyone with an inflamed liver as result of gear.

Hey solid I'm 52 years old. Nice to meet someone about my age. I know nothing about roids so you are the expert in my eyes. All I am saying is that what his dad, the physician, probably meant was that there could be some liver damage - which ultimately 'might' result in some inflamation of the liver, which is probably what he meant by a hepatic liver. I am not suggesting that roids cannot be done safely without any liver comlications - I am sure they can. I am considering them myself for sometime in the near future ( 1-2 yrs. ) even though I already have a real hepatic liver. I have chronic hepatitus C. This is the main reason I am not doing them now. I am hoping for a cure to this disease in the near future ( maybe 5-10 years ) with all the research that is being done - and with all the $money$ to be made by the pharmaceutical company that hits on a real cure first. Because it has such possibility for big bucks I am confident that all that can be done to find a cure is being pursued diligently, and this gives me some hope. I am definitely not knocking roid use though - I wish I could do them myself right now, but am reluctant because of my condition.
