Ok so ya'll know I started a new gym this morning. So far they seem to know what they are talking about or at least I hope so.

Well here's my problem the trainer said I'm retaining to much water. So I'm thinking of taking a look at me sodium intake and adjusting it and getting in more fiber. What do you all think????

It's always a good idea to watch your sodium intake (you can track it via fitday) and to intake 25-35g of fiber per day. Fiber is good for you!

I log my food onto fitday. I don't believe my sodium is to bad but then again I may have overlooked the total of it. Fiber I know is very good for me and I do eat it but will it help with my water retention?????

4 days!!! Wow seems like the time has flown by! How are you feeling about this one????

Things to look for -- sodium, how do you respond to carbs, fats, drinking enough water, do you have food allergies or sensitivity to wheat / gluten? And just your overall diet. I find a carb rotation / cycle helps clean stuff out when i'm "holdign water". Also are you taking good anti-oxidants? Have you ever done a colon cleanse? Have you ever done a "detox diet"? Your body could be "Retaining water" just because it has enough free radicals or just has never been "cleaned out" so just sort holds stuff and doesnt' burn as efficiently?

In fitday I think under the Goals page - you can select which nutrients you want to track - which would then be under "Reports" I check my "Report" page every day to make sure I'm getting what I need.

Fiber could bloat you if you're not used to it as could certain veggies.

I'm drinking at least 1 gallon of water daily most of the time a little more. No food allergies.

Not take a good anti-oxidant. What brand do you recommend?
No have not done a colon cleanse and what do I have do to,to do that? Take ect?
Diddo on the detox diet I haven't but have thought about it and would like to but not sure what do to without hurting myself????

Trainers say a lot of things when you first meet them. They have no idea what your current diet & training / other activities are and they sometimes say things to make you feel good about yourself or to make you start worrying so you feel like you can't live w/o their help, despite the $60/session.

Before setting off to find the culprit, I'd ask him what he means by that and why he thinks that. There are all sorts of things that can make you "hold water". Frankly anyone who isn't low bodyfat is going to look like they are "holding water".

ONe thing I HIGHLY recommend when using a trainer - make them explain things to you so that you are gaining knowledge that then becomes yours. As opposed to listening to them blindly or they just won't answer your questions - often they will do this again to lock you in tighter as a dependent client. Make 'em earn their money. And also remember that if you introduced yourself to five different trainers in the same day seperately, I bet each one of them would tell you something different, and possibly to the point of diametric opposition.

I have not hired him and not planning on it. He just kind of tagged along with me as he was showing me around and questioning me to get some kind of idea of what I'm looking for. He did ask about my diet I told him that I was trying to get it down to 40/30/30. He said good. He was really making alot of small talk and we both were bouncing questions off of each other.
