Help on increasing calf size

Ok fellas i am 6'2 195Ibs my entire body is all well except for the Calfs, i am trying not to be too hard on myself as to this maybe a genetic issue but what can i do to increase SOME Size. I mean there just skinny lol...i would like to increase 1/4 in or something like that, I mean should i perform really heavy reps? or more sets? Or im not sure about this but i over heard that while doing cardio say the elliptical to concentrate training on the tips of your feet and that may help? Any input/advice/opinions would be greaty appreciated, as i am tired of seeing the skinny calfs lolol. :p

cardio won't help especially if your calves are genetically poor. do very heavy calf raises and over a period of time they should improve.

Not true. On a nice summer day go and sit by a bike trail and watch all the joggers go by. Its not uncommon to see people with 16-17" calves go by every few minutes.

Of course weight training is the best way to bring them up to par. Focus on squats and controlled calve raises.

Cardio can help if you run properly. Balls of feet, no heel-toe-ing. Sprint intervals will beef up them calves nicely.

Do calf raises with reps between 5-8 and seated calf raises between 10-15. Gastroc and soleus have a different fiber composition and are affected better through seperate rep ranges. Aside from that, pause at the top and bottom of the movement - for 2-3 seconds at the bottom, to eliminate the stretch reflex. The achilles tendon is great at rebounding energy and making calf exercises easier. That's why we can walk for so long - good at storing energy, less muscular fatigue. Most people can bounce the entire stack, but have shitty calves. Why? That's why. You need to pause to get rid of the stretch reflex.

hmmm.... i like to watch the joggers go by.... ;)

Heavy weight low reps will work the gastroc nicely, not the soleus.

10-12 is not fucking low reps. 20+ is aerobics, better off sprinting. Better yet, go find reebok step boxes. Play with those. Pansy.

Wahhh, oh no! I'm getting bombed by C&C douche bags. :FRlol: This site really went downhill. I think I'm gonna be leaving this shithole soon. Too bad all the good bros like Blut Wump, Guinness, Madcow, CCJ, jim ouini and AB are here.

The "bombing" bullshit should be left to C&C for all the retards who actually get something out of it. You know, because it actually does something and "K" matters.

having lots of karma means youre smart rich and huge where have you been...ask you mom for some money for a plat membership so you can get big

lately i've been doing 12-10-8 and after i'm done i'll stand up and flex the holy shit out of them and hold it for a minute. i've just been doing that for a month. kinda playing around with things. their not huge or anything but i have noticed there growing

I've tried lots of different approaches to calf training over the years. None of 'em has done a thing as far as I can tell. I haven't directly trained calves in about ayear, but as my squat poundage has climbed, so has the size of my calves.

I think calves is one of those muscles that has a GREAT deal to do with genetics and bone structure of the frame. I for one, barely work calves and have 18.5-19" calves and I might do 1-2 sets a week for them.

But, for breaking out of ruts you definitely want to do heavy reps and have that nice calf burning feeling and maybe even some cramps that take you to the floor, then those bastards will grow :)

You're also a big boy, according to your signature. That's why you have huge calves.

Alrite fellas so its been like 2 weeks since i started this thread and have trained the calfs 3-4 times so far and well there not huge and i have seen results when i look in the mirror, they look more defined as what they were before just skinny with a little muscle now they just look more defined overall. I have performed 2 calf exercise the seated and standing calf raise performing 4-5 reps 3 of which are heavy then last set really heavy and do as many as i can push and then warm down where i drop the weight and do as many as i can 20 or so. Thanks for the info fellas

work'em as much as possible. I'm up to three times a week now. Three sets as heavy as possible, then 2-3 sets as many reps as possible, 20+
