RADAR

Used the same stuff. It works.

RADAR when you said that I smiled, my mom bought me that stuff when I lived at home. She said it would work, I laughed and said yeah right, just like the bar soap under the matress right? But to my surprise it did.

goto prolonews.com and see if you can find a prolo doc near you. I have had it done many times on many injuries it works great and is a permanent fix.

What kind of pain is it..ie where is it located? You could have some form of tendonitis in it. I had an ACL reconstructtion 10 years ago when I was in HS and I often get pain when my quadricep muscle gets too tight. Lots of stretching and ice helps along with the supplements that were mentioned above(MSM,glucosamine, etc)

If your still having pain then there is a high likelyhood the ACL never fully healed. Prolotherapy is designed to strengthen and thicken injured tendons/ligaments, its a permanent fix. Many people who have had prior surgeries find themselves with long term aches and pains due to lack of healing, mainly due to the use of ice and anti-inflamatories. Tendons/ligaments are comprised of a lot of water, putting ice on these area freezes the water causing stiffness. It also reduces bloodflow to the injury thereby reducing healing etc. Many people simply treat the pain and by doing so prolong or eliminate healing.

I specifically asked him where the pain was..I probably should have said that my pain is above the kneecap..nothing to do with the ACL really. More the quadricep tendon..however I have a feeling that my previous injury has made me more susceptible to other injuries to that knee. That was what I was implying before and should have said. Sorry for the confusion. But I agree if he's still having pain in the ACL then it did not fully heal and he needs to take different measures than merely icing and supps.

I was having similar pain in my knee but never had surgery. I did do some damage to the ligaments and tendon (no tears) but did have a tiny bit of scar tissue. My Dr is up on newer forms of treatments, etc. He gave me some injections with something similar to lidocaine directly into the scar tisse. The scar tissue broke down and I went pain free.

Sounds like prolotherapy. Its designed to cause direct inflamation in tendons/ligaments and spur on rapid healing of injured tissue. The lidocaine in mixed in to simply offer some minor releife to the discomfort. It is nothing like a cortisone injection and as you have witnessed, its permanent fix.

lighten the load on legs for the next few workouts while you are at it and take quad extensions out of your routine for a little while

Re: cortizone shot

Go to a doc and ask for a cortizone shot. It hurts, but should clear it up for a long while.

Cortizone will only mask the pain thinking it has healed..then you injure the same area even more because it doesn't hurt!!!! I have had cortizone before and it is not a fix!!!!

Corretc, this can make the problem many times worse by weakening the tendon and causing much more damge due to shutting the warning signal off. If you are going to use cortizone than stay of legs for at least a few weeks

i believe that syn-flex will be my best go with supplements, that prolotherapy sounds awesome, but i checked are there are no dr.s availabe in my area, closet is like 200 miles :(

I too had an ACL surgery about six years ago. Since I ski and lift so much, I was initial very concerned that I was not able to continue with my lifestyle. Thus I did a lot of research on the knees and how to deal with recurring problems. What I found is that knees are very sensitive to weather changes (light arthritis but nothing to worry about). On those days that you are feeling pain, try messaging just above your knee cap for about 5 minutes. Icing after lifting also helps, but do not use any heat. Try backing off on heavy lifting on those days that you have knee problems. Deca would certainly help, but you will be only masking the problem but not fixing it.

Damn, glad you guys stepped in on the cortisone thing, they are bad new and aside from simple pain masking they have been proven to cause deterioration. This may be fine for the average couch potatoe, but if your active and want to continue to be I suggest looking for a cure, not a quick fix.

eat some raw jelly (gelatine everyday).. ignore the sceptiscm surrounding jelly.. just try it... half a slab raw per day for 1 month..

I had cortisone shots once for my wrist injury, and it just made it worse. My wrist was better for about three weeks and then it went back to the way it was before the shoot. Besides, the pain was unbearable for three days. I would never do one again.

I've got a bad knee also, without goingin to details, I've had 6 different surgeries on my left knee(one of which was to replace all 4 tendons in the knee). I've been in a unbearable amt. of pain since my accident last Oct 05. Ive found that taking mega doses of glucosamine 10000-15000mg/day, msm 2000-4000 mg/day, chondrointan 2000-5000 mg/day, vitamin e 2-3 pills/day, theres a product called Phosaplex which has all of the above in it and its the best one of the market, (you take 4 pills a day, 30 day supply), and /s Boswalla extract (which helps with inflamation), flaxseed oil capsules 3000 mg/day. Vitamin c helps with cartalege and collagen formation. These aren't too expensive, and I doubt you'd need all of them, I'm just an extreme case. At least try the Phosaplex ($48), flaxseed oit, and vitamin c and e. these should help you, and you should start seeing results in anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks.(everyone responds to supplementation differently) good luck bro
