Sounds like prolotherapy. Its designed to cause direct inflamation in tendons/ligaments and spur on rapid healing of injured tissue. The lidocaine in mixed in to simply offer some minor releife to the discomfort. It is nothing like a cortisone injection and as you have witnessed, its permanent fix.JerseyDevil said:I was having similar pain in my knee but never had surgery. I did do some damage to the ligaments and tendon (no tears) but did have a tiny bit of scar tissue. My Dr is up on newer forms of treatments, etc. He gave me some injections with something similar to lidocaine directly into the scar tisse. The scar tissue broke down and I went pain free.
