Help!!! I Can't Sleep At All At Night!!!!

JUICESEEKER

New member
I have been sleepless for a long time. For some reason i can't unwind at night. The result is i end up staying up all night and be in tired and run down in the day. It is ruining my life! I was thinking of trying ambien, since my body clock must be off. Can somebody tell me what i should do?

Try some alcohol or Nyquil. Take a sleeping pill (Ambien), try to locate the source of your anxiety and worry. If you are going to be up, join a 24 hour fitness center and work out later than usual. Or do an hour of cardio. Or read a book. Or have some anal sex. I don't know.

I get like that. I had prescript sleeping pills for a while but it was killer when I had to wake up.

 Have you tried...

Valerian Root?

Smoking a little weed?

Having sex or masturbating? That helps most guys fall asleep.

Are you avoiding stimulants during the day (coffee, etc.)?

Popping in a calm movie you've seen a million times already can kinda be like a bedtime story...hubby does that a lot.

Good luck!

Man...I have been having the same problem. With all of this stress it is hard to sleep. I have been drinking the heck out of thera flu, a shot of Jack, and maybe a tylenol PM.

Tylenol PM :garza: But you just don't wanna depend on a sleeping aid.

Try cutting back on all caffeine or any other type of stimulant you may be taking. If that doesn't work take a long hot bath right before bed

i had this problem, too. I actually left the country and adjusted to a new time zone...

Ambien (10mg) and 3mg of sublingual melatonin. take them both.

you will have to gradually increase dosages for them to work. use as much as yer doc will prescribe. when they run out, you should be okay.

also. get up in the morning and be BUSY. being in a zombie like state in the mornings will make it more difficult to STAY diurnal (day liver)

these are my favourites to sleep:

- Valerian root

- B-6, Zinc, Magnesium

- Tylenol with codeine

- weed....

Fonz knows alot about this sleep stuff.

Not being able to sleep at all is different than falling asleep at the wrong time. I don't know if benzo's will help you sleep. Even if they did, they block delta sleep, so you won't go into REM.

How long has this been happening?

Supposedly one of the main causes of insomnia is depression or anxiety. hell if i know how to cure it though. i have it too.

Depression and Anxiety...both of those are screaming my name...especially late at night.

Whatever the cause of your sleeplessness, you need to go get something to take. Whether it is Ambien or something else, you need to do something soon. Maybe go see your doctor?

What? You aren't gonna offer to put some of these poor souls to sleep at night? ;)

If I talked dirty to them enough, they would have no problems. :)

When did you start talking dirty? ;)

Juiceseeker- I had this exact same problem almost 4 years ago. A Doctor eventually suggested a low-dose Tricyclic antidepressant(Amitriptyline). The chemical structure of this drug doesn't allow your body to build up a tolerance to it. I've been on the same dose for over 3 years and it still works as good as it did back then. I take 25mg before I go to bed... it doesn't just help you get to sleep, it helps you STAY asleep too. None of that morning hangover that other sleep medications cause either.

25mg is a very low dose. People who take it for depression take 150-300mg/ED.

Coincidently, I wasnt sleeping much last week either. 10 hours over four nights.

My anxiety has been really high lately. Last week, I was popping a couple caps of G at night prior to the following work day.

If its anxiety and depression your dealing with, cognitive behavioral therapy specialized for ur particular condition relieves insomnia in most cases.

Personally, I practice cognitive therapy everyday specialized for my anxiety disorder. During the past couple months I neglected to cover cognitive material which helped reduced my constant paranoia about others actions and thoughts. Last week, after pushing myself hard for the past 4 weeks, my brain wouldn't shut off.

Now, I spend more daily therapy time going over anxiety reducing cognitive material and slept well last night.

If ur condition persists man, I strongly suggest u see a doctor.

Good luck.

lot of good advice here. This problem sucks. I use to have it bad. Klonopin works well for me. Highly addictive though.

I had trouble sleeping in August. I would try to sleep then jump up every twenty minutes or half-hour gasping for air. I figured it was my allergies (hayfever) and I tried the nighttime otc meds and got a little relief. I still got tired at work and nodded off at work, snoring in front of my co-workers. I got around to going to my doc who sent me to the asthma clinic. It turned out to be a mild form of asthma, affecting me only at bedtime. My lungs weren't getting enough air, complicated by the phlegm buildup from the allergy cutting off the already narrowed passages, caused me to wake and fight to breathe. I'm currently on four meds from the clinic (I'm on more but it's not related) including an albuterol inhaler, which Slickassbiatch asked about in a thread on the chat board earlier this week. Even so I get about six decent hours sleep.

This happens to me a lot and I can't figure out why. I will wake up and breath like I had been holding my breath too long. I'm not out of breath when it happens so I don't understand it.

dam...

I am having LOTS of trouble sleeping lately. It is definately because of Depression and Axiety. I constantly worry about this one particular person (my ex girlfriend). We had a bad break up. I can't sleep right ever since. 4 Months already. Having much trouble letting go already.

been there bro...

i am serious when i recommend liberal amounts
of hard core pornography and finding a fuck buddy
as soon as possible...

sounds shitty, but if you dont, the worrying over your
ex will consume you...

I felt the same way. How much do you weigh Biteme? With those who are overweight apnea may be the cause. When relaxed during sleep, the passages in the throat become flattened under one's extra flesh.

WORD!

Perfect example

Last night. I got into a arguement with her, this is because she is a inconsiterate f*ck, and can't admit it. I was trying to end things with her once and for all. I wanted to tell her that being friends with her isn't such a great idea for me or whatever. Now of course things can't go as smoothly as I want them too and be peaceful. Make long story short, I get into a fight, go out driving around. I get home at 5:00am go lay in my bed to get up for work at 9:30am, can't fall asleep so I try to call her she doesn't answer sit there on her voicemail explaining myself, before I know it I am tossing and turning it is now 8:00am have not fallen asleep. I finally get up out of my bed get dressed. Go drive around for awhile, head to work an hour early, and I have been up since. It is now 3:40pm est. I am fighting to stay awake. I have to stop this before I run my body through the ground. It has been 4 months up and down, enough is enough already. I have been with many different girls, but I am always comparing them to her. I am never happy with these girls as I was with her. She means so much to me. But no more. I can't keep doing this to myself.

JG- I feel for you Bro. I've been in the same exact position as you... and had to deal with the exact same consequences(sleep dysfuntion). Go back up this page and read my first post to this thread... Make an appointment with your Doctor and ask him to put you on that medication. However, taking a pill before you go to bed isn't going to remedy the problems you have with your ex. But... if you get more sleep, your emotions and cognition will be better prepared to help you cope getting over her. In your present sleep deprived state, there's no way you're capable of dealing with this.

BTW- If you do go and see a Physician about this and he suggests Imovane or Rhovane(7.5mg)to help you sleep... REFUSE IT. Tell him you want a low-dose tricyclic AD. If you think your sleep problems are bad now, they will be EXPONENTIALLY worse after using Imovane... steer clear of that substance.
