Whatever you do...dont get a gateway....man I cant believe I used to work there...if its a desktop why not build your own if your looking for a more high-end type system? its MUCH easier than it seems.

for high end desktop Id go Alienware

for a good system from a good company at a resonable price Id say Dell, I dont think Id bother with any others personally

save some money and build it yourself

Well I have a budget of about 6-700 dollars..


Prefer good multimedia setup for that price....if anyone has any good suggestions as often non-mainstream companies offer better deals

for that kind of budget i think you may be better off going it your own rather than paying the big guys. Go to www.speedguide.net and go to the hardware forum and explain what you will be using the computer for mainly, and what you definately want, and how much you have to spend, and they will probably put a system together for you..they are junkies like that.

My mom is thinking about buying a Compaq laptop. Good deals. Although I never heard good things about them.
I've had my desktop Presario for over 3 years now. Defrag it twice a month. Had constant issues with Windows ME - not stable. Ever since I upgraded to XP Professional, it's been running smooth.
