Heavy dips are starting to get uncomfortable.

Anyone else have this problem? I hate it, because I LOVE heavy dips!! My shoulders and joints seem to disagree though. I'm seriously considering replacing them with close grip bench presses for my old school training.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

i stopped doing dips along time ago. there are plenty of other exercises that can get you to the same goal, without tearing you up. of course its a little different for people who are lighter, but bigger people should stay away from dips imo.

I've been doing them for about a month now, with 55lbs added. So far so good, but I can feel the strain on the joints quite a bit. At the first sign of trouble, I'll probably go back to close grips for a while.

But I've been doing the weighted dips on the 5x5 workout, and I couldn't be happier with the progress. I remember a time when I could barely do five or six good dips with just my bodyweight.

Iam having the same problem also. @6'6" & 240lbs, Iam up to a 75lb dumbell for 3X5 and I feel like somthings going to break. It feels so good to do my bodyweight for a burnout set @ the end though.
