heart rate monitors...

I use it for cardio but i donnt run i do low intesnity cardio sometimes i use it or other times i just use the hr moniters on the machines...

I use it with my treadmill, it will keep my heart rate in a certain zone automatically and I don't have to fuck with the speed/elevation. Most cardio equipment comes with this built in now. If you are looking to use one outdoors on your bike there are many options, but make sure you get one with a zone alarm, it will alert you when you're out of your target zone. Stay away from some of the Polars that don't allow you to change your own battery, they make you send it in for replacement. Also note that after a few years the sensors in the chest strap will be destroyed from the acids in your sweat and it will no longer be a battery problem if it doesn't work. But still you should get a good 2-3 years out of it even if using daily. Also, when done wipe it down with a cool damp towel, that will shut the battery off quicker and make it last longer.

Really? I didn't know that.

*mental note*

i use to have a nike one, but that one sucked balls cause other ones would interfere with it and send the hr in the 300's

i bought a polar f1 i think, love it. keeps track of everything. if you want a good one polar is the way to go, i haven't run the battery down.. been using it 2 yrs now .

i actually just looked in my maual for the f-11 polar and it says the battery will normally last 1 1/2 years, that is reccomends that servicing be done by an authorized polar service center, warrenty doesnt cover any damage done by an unauthorized tech.

i imagine changing the battery in a polar is not rocket science, the thing to watch is to make the seal on closing it proper. thats my guess anyways.
