Heard That Owen Wilson Attempted Suicide...

Owen Wilson hospitalized as rumors swirl
National Enquirer claims actor attempted suicide in Web report

Frederick M. Brown / Getty Images The National Enquirer and Star magazines are reporting that Owen Wilson attempted suicide.

Celebrity Web sites were reporting Monday that actor Owen Wilson was hospitalized Sunday in Los Angeles, with one tabloid claiming he had attempted suicide.

TMZ.com posted a statement from the Santa Monica Police on its Web site: “On Sunday Aug. 26, 2007 at 12:10 PM, officers from the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a medical assistance call from the Santa Monica Fire Department at the 900 block of 23rd Street. The person was transported to a local hospital where they are being treated.”

TMZ reported that due to medical privacy laws, police would not release any additional information, nor would they comment on why he was transported.

The National Enquirer Web site was reporting that Wilson was transported to St. John’s hospital in Santa Monica with sources telling the Enquirer and Star magazines that the actor had sliced his left wrist and taken an indeterminate amount of pills in a suicide attempt.

bugs me that a guy like that could feel that hopeless. scary how some people can hide their true feelings so easy....

well how do we know he hid it? Maybe to his family he didn't, but he just didn't bring his "issue" to work and to the public

you're not suprised?

This is sort of ironic... when someone wears their heart on their sleeve they are chastised. When another holds it ALL inside they are a mystery?

i am/ but frankly we do not really know anything about this guy on a personal level/
we know what the media has portrayed but we dont know what it's like behind closed doors for him.

^^^everyone is so judgemental, thats why^^^

YA THINK?

Takes very tough skin to expose your human weaknesses. Somehow I dont think the guy wanted a suicide attempt splattered all over the media, but you give up your right to respect and being treated with dignity with ANY degree of fame and/or celebrity.... right?

Being depressed AND poor is far worse... trust me on that one.

Being depressed with an incurable illness is every worse....;-)
There could always be a "worse" right.
I think depression whether poor, ill, rich or whatever is a powerful thing.

It is no game...

but if you are wealthy then you at least have the access to proper treatment and health care. If you are depressed and poor - you pretty much have to suck it up... whatever that means.

I find it ironic that when someone who is in the public eye has effectively concealed their human frailties everyone is so shocked when it is revealed finally that THOSE PEOPLE were human and had problems too. Especially in light of how out and out CRUEL most are to those that share their struggles freely.

That is ALL I am sayin.

he slashed his wrist on one hand and took some pills, apparently......

awww. he's hot. that's a shame.

Damn, how could the voice of Lightning McQueen even think of suicide? :(

Yeah, I like a kid's movie, deal with it!!

he's talented, has more money than god, and gets more ass than a toilet seat. . .wtf could his problems possibly be?? i have none of those things. . .and for the most part i'm basically happier than hell :whatever:

I am thinking that is because YOU are the center of the universe for your wife and children - they make you feel like you are ten feet tall... and they REALLY mean it?

... just an outsider looking in, so tell me, how close to the mark am I? :qt:

Is it true that when you have money you can afford a good therapist.
I don't think it's ironic more than some ppl are a little suprised. When we see a public person always happy, we expect them to really be happy.
But I'm sure his close friends knew he was having a rough go.

Depression does not discriminate

when i come home at night, my girls treat me like i'm bon jovi and my son attacks me and bites me in the leg (he's only 22 months old and two-foot-nothing). . .life doesn't get much better than that :)

My point exactly - when a public person successfully hides their weaknesses and sufferings suddenly everyone is surpized if and when they surface?

WHY IS THAT?

Everyone that exposes their lives gets shouted down, jeered and laughed at so those that TRY to hide their lives do this because......?

But then the *public* is surprized?

Come on.... people can be so silly sometimes. (not you, just talking in general)

WE ALL HAVE WEAKNESSES and events in our lives that trouble us to some extent - maybe the public at large can take this opportunity to look within themselves and perhaps tackle whatever it is IN THEM that causes them to pass judgement and ridicule on those that purposely choose NOT TO HIDE so that others who are going through (whatever it is that is troubling them) wont feel so alone?

... just talkin out m'asshole as usual. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

national inquirer and tmz.com are reputable sources???

Dude, these magazines and web sites have the best sources. Trust me, they get the info before the reputable news mags get them

if we all won the lottery and came into money, we'd just lose the distraction, and we'd have a whole new set of problems.

How do you know this?

These rag mags pay big bucks to get the news.
I'm not saying all of it is true, but the scabs of society work for these mags and they pay top $ for info.
I saw a documetray on this once (many yrs ago) and how they said when a famous person does something, how informers or just reg ppl call the rag mags before calling the news stations.

That Hansel is so hot right now!

Maybe he got the news that he has incurable cancer or maybe someone very close to him died. A child dying could send many people over the top.

A great PR person in "Hollyweird" is the key!

"Mr. Owen's suffered a fall thru his sliding glass doors tonight while trying to save a drowning fly from a puddle on his slippery kitchen floor."

Even with good PR, the scabs and parasites ALWAYS get the info.
The hosp he's at is probably filled with ppl talking secretly to the press right now.
By tonight we'll know the color of his gown, his socks and what color jello he ate.

Rag mag's bank on the private pain of other's so their reader's can feel their shitty lives look pretty good compared to Mr. or Mrs. "X".It's all very sad.

I'd still rock doing PR though ..I got the shoes too! lol

Well let's admit it, we all love to see how fat Britney's ass got or how unattractive Jessica Biel really looks w/out make-up.
It makes me feel a little better ;-)

I think Jessica Biel would be hot as hell if she had the flu and was all nasty sick and red nosed with a rat's nest bed head.

I must be odd. I only feel the pangs of the lil green monster pokin under my skin when they talk about how much $$$$ these stars make on a single film or record deal. Could be a whole lotta boat for me... :)

I'd be willing to be a test subject for that.

I've been observing these people for years.........and they never struck me as people I should look up to in terms of happiness or having "found themselves". It always seemed like these people are always wrapped up in some bullshit that they just can't seem to shake. You can't pay me to take over those people's lives.............I'd take their money for sure, but not at the price of having to live in the social strata that they do. It probably dawned on the poor guy that he's among the most shallow and vacuous people on the planet............and that he was stuck there. Probably had alot of "supposed" friends that didn't call as much anymore because he's not the "hot thing" anymore like he was a few years back. Sad

That seems like a cry for help rather than a true attempt. Men most often don't commit suicide in such an ineffective manner. They opt for guns or hanging, it seems.

i like owen wilson. I hope he feels better whatever is bugging him.
