Heads up boys! USPS is randomly opening mail.

hey every body I have a question. why not use UPS or FEDex ground. I was a territory rep and my company used to send tons of stuff ( a whole garage full). And they never opened any of it. cost like 10 bucks and takes like 3-5days to get anywhere in the country???

you would think they would be scared to open an envelope full of anthrax.

a lesson needs to be taught here.

fucking government. all in the name of terrorism.

I would reword it and say fucking terrorist. And yes, the terrorist need to be taught a lesson.

your package was opened because it was randomly selected. dogs are trained to sniff for certain explosives, drugs and of course the strong aroma of money. i worked at a place called jetsort when i was fresh out of high-school. there are machines that shoot out small rows of large priority envelopes 50 at a time onto these slotted racks (the row where i worked had 100 rows of these 50deep slotted racks, and there were probably 85 colums of 100x50's in the warehouse )that correspond with whatever area the barcode on the envelope refers to. the dogs are assigned to 10 row sections, and only do one (of the 85) colum at a time. this was in philly where im from. im sure each city, or large town has their own mail sorting facility. one of the most common things found in my place was cash. it has a stronger odor that marijuana on a gram for gram basis. think about it

Maybe you are imagining things..

President Bush's Signing statement on HR 6407, PL 109-435 Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act.

The executive branch shall construe subsection 404(c) of title 39, as enacted by subsection 1010(e) of the Act, which provides for opening of an item of a class of mail otherwise sealed against inspection, in a manner consistent, to the maximum extent permissible, with the need to conduct searches in exigent circumstances, such as to protect human life and safety against hazardous materials, and the need for physical searches specifically authorized by law for foreign intelligence collection.

Signed 20 December 2006

That doesn't say that this is already occuring, but that the President thinks he has the authority to open mail without a warrant under provisions of Title 39 and the Patriot Act.

I don't think that this line-item veto will pass Constitutional muster.
