Has anyone ever tried Back/Shoulder workout together????

Today is Back day and usually I do Tris as well ( Push/Pull ). I was thinking of trying shoulders w/back and was wondering if anyone has had success w/ that and a sample routine they have tried. It seems a logical mix since the shoulder girdle is worked during back, especially the rear delts and traps.

I am currently hitting Shoulders then back for my 5x5, has been working well. Obviously I dont hit rear delts directly in the shoulder section tho!

I would have to dig through the old training logs, but there are a number of possibilities that you can put together. I know for a fact that Needsize follows a strong program. . also check with him.

Here might be a possibility:

Seated Barbell Presses - 5 x 5
Deadlifts - 5 x 5
Barbell Rows - 2 x 8-10
Chins - 2 x failure
Up Right Rows - 2 x 8-10
Dumbbell Laterals - 2 x 8-10
Barbell Shrugs - 2 x 8-10

You can mix it up frequently.

on the seated Bbl presses are you behind the neck, in front and are you on a bench w/ back support???

barbell presses are typicall frontal. . you can also throw in some push presses. As for back support. . thats your preference. I like the back support lol.

FYI mine:

5x5 Military Press
2x8-10 Side Laterals*
2x8-10 Arnolds*
5x5 Deadlifts
2x8-10 Chins*
2x8-10 Cable Row*

* Will change session to session. Hope this helps :)

It seems as if you guys mix the movements up a bit. For example you dont do shoulders then back or vice versa. Is the intention to work the heavy compound movements first??

Yes. . . .always hit the big stuff first when you are fresh.

Im leaving in 1/2 hour to hit the gym, the only thing that will be tough to do is this 2 set deal. Doesnt seem like enough volume.

Back and shoulder together is the only way I've hit them for years now, I find its much more efficient
Heres my usual approach, the reps schemes vary

military press
side laterals
deads
pulldowns
shugs
rows
rear laterals
I tend to superset exercises together to get out faster, ie, military press with dead warmups, deads with side laterals, etc
