Hard for me to believe....

HumorMe

that it has been one year ago today since my father died.:(

Reading this thread brings back a flood of emotions for me.

He sat down to eat at the dinner table and popped a piece of pork chop in his mouth and choked to death. My mom was there beside him trying to help but even the rescue squad had to insert something in his throat to retrieve the obstruction.

I miss him everyday but I know he is in a better place.

dang sorry Humorme

that's tough bro. :rose: i don't know how i'll be when my dad dies :(

I always wondered the same thing. You never know until that time comes. I do miss him everyday.:(

Going to visit his grave this afternoon so that will proably be the toughest for me although I do visit it quite often. The quickness in it being one year later is just astounding to me.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. They do bring comfort.:)

after reading the thread from when it happened, your dad seems like the kind of man who I wish to one day be. He must have done many good things for many people to be observed after death in such a fashion. 400 people? my grandmother was the same way.

my father will die extremely wealthy, but I doubt there will be much of a turnout.

cheers to your father's memory.

Sorry, bro.
Now I'm scared to eat pork chops. I inhale food, I've come close to choking so many times.

Thanks bran.

I have tried so hard to pattern my life from the examples that he instilled upon me during my childhood and teenage years.

Although I know I will probably fall short I will still have the satisfaction of knowing he made a positive impression upon me to treat people fairly and most deserve second chances.

He did more things for more people that I will probably never know about unless someone steps forward and tells me about them like they did after his funeral. Knowing that he made a difference in so many lives gives me peace with his death.

Thanks to all for the warm words and encouragement during this time of reflection.:)

So sorry HumourMe I would love to say it gets easier but it doesn't. It was the 9 year anniversry of my fathers death this year and it was still just as hard as the first.

really sorry to hear that, Humor. i lost my Dad almost nine years ago. we were both baseball fans and everytime spring training comes, it's a reminder of how much i miss him.
