hahahaha yeah, I've had to advance the timer on my patio lights out back each night to have light to take the dog out. Wont have to adjust it for a while now.

So much of christmas came from pagan traditions. Accordingly to some researchers the red and white popular colors origiated due to the red and white mushrooms that were used for religious psychadelic communal bonding during the winter solstice. The shamanic priest who guided the Sami or Siberian tribe, was the original Santa Claus, however, the beard, Im not sure about girth. However, the flying reindeer is often understood by antrhopologists to be be based on the idea that these tribes were usually reindeer herders. The winter Solstice and Psychadelic rituals that promote family and community as well as a respect for life seem to be the main cause of our holidays.

Believe me, while I just did a workshop on the sabbats, I am far from an expert. Our coven is doing something really interesting, this year. Just about every one of our sabbats (with the exception of a couple) is open and we'll be holding a two hour class before each ritual explaining the tradition/history/significance of the sabbat.
