I know it's tomorrow but I don't think I'm going to be anywhere near a computer this weekend!! Uninterrupted hedonism for the next three days.....ooooh yeah!!!

You are exactly 1yr and 11 months older than me...thought I'd stick that in!

Thank you guys, that was really sweet of of Ffactor!... and all the rest.

Tomorrow I will have my girls for the day (because my oldest requested it NOT because the ex offered). I don't quite know what we will do yet but it will probably be goofy kid stuff... If any of you have suggestions - let me know!

My girls are so sweet. They are baking me a cake and were OBSESSED with finding me "the perfect" gift. Of course, I told them to save thier money for something that they wanted but they DID think of the perfect gift: one that never occured to thier father to get me while we were "happily married". I think it will be one of this little charm necklaces with the children's birthstones or something of that sort. I strongly discouraged the gold (because I KNEW there was no way they could afford it) and I told them that I like silver better anyway.

They wouldn't even hear of celebrating on another day and put thier dad on the carpet and specifically asked if they could be with me. I know that with normal folks this would be a no brainer, but lately the dude has been a bit loopy.

I am truly blessed to have the most wonderful children on the planet.

Then I have to be at work by 6. Any of you area peeps, feel free to stop by!

Yea, they are wonderful.

One morning last week when their dad dropped them off I was up till 5AM (work) so I just leave the front door unlocked. Do you know that my oldest (she just turned ten) made me breakfast in bed?!.... complete with little card and on a tray? She was soooo sweet. She made me oatmeal and cut a piece of wholewheat bread with a heartshaped cookie cutter and put two pieces of chocolate on it (of course, she ate the rest of the chocolate *wink*) with a glass of milk. She apologized, "Sorry mommy, but I don't know how to use the coffee maker!"

It wasn't Mother's Day or my birthday or anything of the sort. I was just catching a few winks because I worked the night before.

I don't mean to sound all gushy, but that was one of THE NICEST things anyone has done for me in a very long time; an unsolicited act of kindness "just because".

I haven't opened the box yet! But I promise to post a pic... along with all the others that I got in the mail from Paris.

When people ask me how I am, I tell them that there are certain aspects of my life that are like a nightmare from which there seems there is no escape and there are others that are a dream-like fairy tale from which I NEVER WANT TO WAKE....

Again, thank you for all the warm wishes and the kind words. I do have plenty of love in my "real world", but you all can't know how much it does me good to hear kind words of good intentions from people that I have never even met.....

One of these days I hope to meet a woman with this exact same attitude...........yeah I'm tight (dont get paid for another month :))- deal with it.

Thanks to all who wished me well. I can honestly say that it was THE BEST BIRTHDAY THAT I HAD HAD SINCE I WAS TEN YEARS OLD!

There are a host of reasons, why but the BEST ONE? MY GIRLS! Even though it wasn't "my weekend" THEY INSISTED on spending the day WITH ME! It made me feel like I was the most special person alive!

They got me the sweetest little gold pendant. A heart that had the word mom in the center!... Never got anything like that from their dad and this makes it A GAZILLION times more special! They only kept apologizing that it wasn't more expensive... I kept telling them that it was THE MOST precious gift that I had ever gotten, which it was next to the apron that they painted for me for Christmas last year.... which was the first gift that they had made for me NOT in school y'know? God, they are the best! I hope that I can always make them proud and live up to thier expectations...

As for what was in the mystery red box.... I'm attaching an image from the website because the pic that I took with my webcam just doesn't do it justice. Mine is blue on a beautiful dark blue silk cord with silver clasp. Actually, when I went to the site to "cheat" it was the first thing that caught my eye....

The reason for the color? It has to do with the artist Yves Klein and his quest to find the perfect shade of blue to emulate the color of his wife's eyes... She died and the artist spent (I believe 11 or 17 or some ungodly amount of time) trying to capture the shade of blue that he saw in his wife's eyes... When his work was done, he committed suicide so that he could "be" with her. This is my honey's favorite artist.... I believe that part of the reason that he never married (He is 41) has to do with his quest to find a love that is that intense....

I never knew that about Klein, I remember seeing prints and posters of his work and always wondered why so much of his work was in blue. Very romantic.

I know that you will treasure both equally, but I have a feeling that your girl's gift and them wanting to be with you one this day, is the best gift you could ever receive.

Even if I had only gotten their little construction paper cards. It would have been enough gift for me. I don't ever need them to buy me a single item - ever. Just the fact that they WANTED to be with me brings me to tears. I know this time won't last forever so I am happy to say that even though our situation is truly fucked up by anyone's standards I am treasuring it... All the material wealth in the world couldn't make up for a child not WANTING to see thier parent... I hope to God that they will always genuinely enjoy my company - not out of guilt, not because "they are supposed to because I am their mother" but because they REALLY like to spend a little time with me. Then I will die happy - and this is gospel truth.

My birthday ain't for bout 3 months and I aint tellin none a yaz that I will be the big 4-0...

Reading my first post on this thread depressed me. I am going back to bed. What I wouldn't give to go back in time... And I still have that little charm. I wear it on a belly chain, rarely take it off. I like to fantasize that I will have at least the younger three for my birthday and every day thereafter but I am also realistic.

This thread REALLY depressed me.
