You are kidding me right??

I bought a PS3 and have given it some time and it is crap.

Downloads are terribly slow and once you wait 5 times as long as xbox takes to download a demo....you get to wait even more while the demo "installs"....wtf??

online is a mess, every game I try to play has to be "updated" before I can play them, which again takes forever.

What exactly is so awesome about this system again? besides the blue ray?

Its called buying a PS3 4 years after its come out, you have some updates to catch up on. I have one and its been just fine since I got it. I have a 360 too and there is really no difference in load times or online speed. Something isn't right with your network setup then if the network is slow. You have it on wireless or wired?

wired and Im not talking system updates...Im talking game demos.

Some games have to be updated on the xbox too....but its a matter of seconds not 10+ min.

havent played to many demo's. programing for the ps3 is different from xbox. programmers wanting to take advantage of its capability have a lot more coding, plus the programmers know they have enough space to fill on bluray vs dvd. the core programming for the app is probably larger than microsofts code so files might be larger downloads, installing a larger file size would take more time as would loading a larger file size.

thats all i can think of. pick up a ps3 exclusive game like God of War 3 and you will be happy. one of the best games i've played in a long time.

I played the demo of God of War 3 but didn't really like it...felt like a button masher to me.

"Played" Home too....how fucking lame is that shit?

Trying to give it more time to grow on me but not impressed at all.

You sound like Mr Plunkey whining about how he can't even load a Windows system without it crashing lol.

I can download demos, trailers, etc. from PSN usually as fast as I can on my Win 7 PC (about 75-100 MB/minute) but sometimes it's slower during busy times.
I dunno why people rag about this to be honest it's either shit luck or just bs from Xbots.

I will admit that game updates can take longer than downloads themselves but it never bothered me as I've always had other things to be doing in the meantime.

Even if downloads/installs were slow I'd rather have that than the ridiculous file size limits XBL places on their downloads.

Vid quality is kinda shit and the player sucks but there are plenty of youtube vids like the following showing PSN running smoothly-

I like the part at the end touting the expandable HDD capacity which is completely up to the user, not overpriced and proprietary like Xbox.

Bottom line is XBL and PSN can have lag issues but when it does happen I'd rather not have to be paying for it.

I have all three systems (Wii, XBox 360, and PS3) and don't really see a difference with the load times.

bitching about downloading demos?

gimme a break dude. if that's what your major concern with a system is, you gotta be joking.

Better graphics and blu-ray are reason alone to get a ps3. Plus the best of the ps3 exclusive games are some of the best gamse i've played on any system.

online play is better with xbox but never had connection issues with PSN.

i don't dislike the xbox at all. I love the gears of war and mass effect games, and will buy a 360 again at some point (had to sell mine during some lean times two years ago). but any multi platform games i'll almost always get the PS3 version..with the exception of a game like Bayonetta.

but 99% of multi plat games look better on ps3 and run smoother

Don't know about that. Seen many comparison screens that you mouse over and it flip flops PS3 vs. 360 and most of the time the 360 has the edge on multi-platform games. Its really minute and nit picky, but 360 usually has the edge. I think that will change with Portal 2 if its multi-platform though.

Just felt like arguing for arguments sake. Watching the same multi-platform game running real time on 360 vs. PS3 no one would really know the difference at all. The two things that really impact how you view a game are frame rate and draw distance and neither of which have ever been a factor on any of the multi-platform games in recent times. Both good systems, I own both and don't really prefer one over the other.
