Got friends in Sandersville and Augusta. I've jammed with him quite a few times and opened for him twice, seriously the most down to Earth guy ever. His albums don't do him justice at all. Guy should be a superstar, but he says fuck a little too much for mainstream country.

can't remember what song it was but one was released as a full on country song and it sucked, imo. he doesn't fit into one genre seems like his problem. hell of a songwriter though.

It was Maybe Next Year, and they had it so radio friendly that it didn't even sound like him or the original track. I agree, it sucked. It did get him a good bit of attention though, which I guess was the purpose. We opened for him at the Georgia Ampitheatre in 08 or 09 and it was fucking PACKED, then opened for him again here in TX in Nac and there was hardly anyone there, maybe 200 people tops. I think he's just gonna be a local star, since like you said he kind of has his own style. When he first broke out it was so close to Texas Country/Red Dirt that we were covering a lot of his stuff and people loved it, but these days he's more like Sister Hazel or Blues Traveler with some country thrown in. Either way, the dude is a musical/lyrical genius. He's a great performer, it just doesn't translate to a cd very well...
Originally drums and backup vocals, and still do at concerts, but we do alot of acoustic jam sesh stuff so the past few years I've done alot of guitar. I'll never be a lead player though lol fuck that! It's not a full time job for me by any means, and I doubt we will ever be known much outside of the TX country circuit, but it's fun and I've met a lot of cool people and traveled a good bit because of it. Not gonna quit my day job though haha there are too many wanna be's like us out there.
BTW he used to be a teacher, which is how we got hooked up with him to begin with. Our lead player was in his class growing up. He said Corey would show up hungover from playing a bar the night before and have 'coffee' and pull out his guitar and play for the rest of the class period lol why couldn't any of my teachers be that badass...
Yeah man I know like 4 people that are trying to make it out of the local scene. Its tough. I want to tell a couple of them to give it up because they're barely above average singers loololol

Lololol our lead singer is convinced we are headed to the top haha...in reality Corey is the biggest name we've played with or opened for, and it was only cause I knew a guy who knew a guy.
I bet we are the only two on this site who even knows who the fk we are talking about, so it's hard to call him a big name anyhow...
