Half-Rep Guru Gods...

Super Halo Man

New member
Has anyone ever walked up to you in the gym and criticized what you are doing?

Example... JC Grifter and myself were at the gym the other night, doing legs. Now we were doing hack squats with moderate weight and do it like we always have done squats. Some older gentlemen comes up to us and asks us if we ever considered going lighter and doing "full" reps.

**Side note, the way we do these is we go just below knee height as I used to do them lower until I felt and read about it risking knee injury... We watched this man do squats with his much lighter weight, trying to touch is ass to the floor. That is his "full" rep. He wonders why he has bad knees.

So as I considered attacking the man with brute force, I explained to him what we were doing, why we were doing it, and then regretted not kicking his ass later on...

The way I do my exercises now are after much trial and error. I work every fiber in the muscles, thus the great growth that I have been seeing. Any thoughts?

I don't know about this situation but sometimes it's the other way around. There are a lot of dumb-asses making huge mistakes in every gym. I have tried to help guys out before and they have had shitty attitudes. Anymore, i just let people do whatever they want. I am a big advocate of full-range leg work with whatever weight works. The heavier the better but steady full range work seems to work best for me.

The next one who comes up to me in the gym and mentions some shit like that eats it big time... I hope I'm on Halo at the time, too... Just some added fun booster...

Army of Halo...

Of course that something specal is drop dead... well, for any normal man. For Super Halo Man, 75mg/Halo w/Cheque Drops makes him glow with an aura and shoot his super Halo Cannons. Yummy.

nice :)

I trained 1/2 reps for years, and have trained lighter with
"full" reps the last couple years, and can't say that either
way is better. They both provide results, and I'd have to
say IMO, it is a wash, they both work effectively.

The proof is in the pudding

If he's smaller or weaker than just laugh at him andsay "you'r fuckin pathetic" If he still bother you then just slaughter him outright, and as you are bashing his head in with a 45 as "is this full range enough?"

Good idea.

Actually, going all the way down is better for overall mass building provided your knees can handle it. IMO, most people's knees CAN handle it but they convince themselves that they would be hurting their knees if they went all out. Whatver is the most difficult and requires the most effort is usually the most effective.

Well myself if someone walks up to me and is 300lbs ripped and trys to give advice I know he is for real by his size and will prob listen even though I will be doing behind to the floor HEAVY because thats what works for me with knee wraps of course, now thats my 0.2cents but the main thing I wan't to know is how do you get them little guns on the screen? lol

The shithead was smaller than me... Also, as far as knees... Mine have been shot for a few years now. I have gotten nice gains from doing exercises the way I do them, though. This guy had nothing special to him. I think he was jealous because of my massive well, whatever...

The fact of the matter is that him coming up to us and then flapping his gums, talking about his days as President of NAMBLA, whatever he wanted to prove, I had better things to do... like lift weights.

As I have said, I have been doing this for a while... squats are a must in pro-wrestling... you do them all of the time. It is second nature... :) In pro-wrestling, you learn how to do squats... quickly.

I go ass to the floor and knees have never been a problem. Lower back and hips are shitty, though.

I think the guy was right. I see a lot of guys piling on too much weight and deluding themselves that they are doing "hack squats." If you know what you're doing then great, but try doing a goddamn full rep once in awhile, it wouldn't kill you.

I'm an advocate of full range squats any day. In fact, my experiences have been that half rep squats not only make you look foolish, but are harder on your knees than full range squats.

I say thank-you to those kind and considerate people that would like to help me by telling me how they're way is better, and then I return the favor by spotting them on the Bench Press...OOPS!!! slipped out of my hands...hehehehe

"President of NAMBLA"?!?!? North American Man/Boy Lovers Association??

Just for that he should be wearing a 50lb dumbell smile.

As the man does his squats next time, I'll be sure to kick his leg out from under him... then proceed to beat him to death with a flex bar and bury him in 45's.

Good call, Joker. However, I love the gym. I just felt like telling everyone about this guy and see what they thought. Varied reactions. I think it is time to put this thread to bed. :)

There is a God...

Halo be thy name...
