Had a snake in my house

So my fiance and I were sitting on the couch when we see our cat batting at something. Then one of our dogs goes over then jumps back. At this point we see the damn thing slithering. I jumped up to realize is was either a coral snake or a king snake. My fiance is all flipping the fuck out saying to grab it. It was tiny though maybe measuring 1.5 feet. As I had it cornered, I kept trying to remember the rhyme that most kids are taught in the south but I couldn't get it. So I shoveled the snake into a bucket then jumped online to figure out which one it was. Thankfully it was only a king snake. Even though I read that it was harmless, I didn't trust the websites so I didn't touch it. I wanted to just pick it up and hold him but bitched out. I ended up just letting it go in our front yard seeing as it eats rodents and is harmless. Now I gotta figure out how the hell the thing got in my house :worried:

cool :)

one time i walked out the front door in barefeet at my grandma's house to be greeted by a copperhead.....lol.....after a few tense moments, he slithered away down a crack by the side of the building......

never saw one inside though

At my parent's house, they have a creek in the yard, and big ass black snakes would hang out around the creek all the time. You wouldn't notice them till you were next to them. They averaged 6 feet. Nasty too.

I would have kicked that snakes ass. I would have gotten it in a headlock, double dragon style, given it a few quick knees to the face then tossed it over my shoulder into some trash cans.

Yep, My folk's house is next to a Nine Mile tributary. Those bastards were pissy. They used to get into my parents pool shed and hang out in the walls and ceiling. I was always finding skins laying about...

Sounds like a rat snake. Those are mean fuckers and are better off dead.

no that was probably a black racer. Rat snakes have a reddish tint
A lady came to my store & asked how much do you charge to get a lizard out of a tv, I asked how did she know she had a lizard in the tv. She said "we were watching it and a tail came down from the top of the screen bet the glass & plastic."
I said it would be 45.00 for a service call.
Later that day i sat on the floor behind the console set back to the wall, i looked and didn't see anything, so i pulled the circuit board on the botton was some loose skin ,i pulled it off and said"you don't have a lizard ,this is snake skin"
She went ballestic, so i didn't find any thing so i pushed the tv out more and under the set was a water moccassin looking right at me no less than 2 1/2 feet away. Man! i froze. Told her to get a metal coat hanger and open it up , i used it to distract the snake while i reached into my tool box for some "freeze spray" (this is used to rapidly cool components to 60 below 0 in seconds)
When he struck at the hanger i let him have it, his head turned white fron the ice and he stared knotting up -i could tell he had a brain freeze from hell, while he was occupied i used the hanger to scoop him up and put him in a paper bag, collected my fee and on the way back to the store i stopped and loosened the top a bit and gave it a good throw into the woods. I was relieved to get that thing out of my truck.

RADAR

My cat went through a phase a couple of months ago where he was carrying earth snakes into my apartment. Those are tiny little snakes, no more than about 8" long by about a quarter inch in diameter, barely bigger than an earthworm.

dang radar.....you're all MacGyver and shit, bro man.

The only snake that exists in Holland is an "adder" not sure what the english word is. Ive never actually seen one. supposedly theres a few of them left.

I did hold some snakes in a zoo once. they are cool

I'll gladly trade you my sister and her 2 dogs and my parents for the snake. Heck, I'll even throw in several piles of dog shit that I've scooped out of my living room, you can use it for compost. I'm getting ready to kill them all.

i thnk they are called adders over here too

almost saw one, but it slithered away. i had a water snake swim inbetween my legs in sweden. the only hing i know about snakes is they see motion, so i just stayed still till it pissed off to go eat some fish we were trying to catch

Of all the years I lived in the middle of nowhere, I have yet to see a rattlesnake in the wild. I grew up wondering around in the woods so you would think I would have ran into one at least once. They must not be as prolifent in Florida
