H1 vs H2 Hummers

I'm trading in my rover for a hummer. I really want an H1, but can only afford a 1998 or older. They are the same price as a brand new H2. I want the turbo diseal for sure. What are you thoughts on the two.

I've driven the H1's and on campus they are a bitch to park, the h2's are too common here now. I think the h2 is just a burban with a little extras??

Ya but consider warranty, gas mileage, and brand new vs. a '98 with 50k and no warranty.

I think the h2's are puss's, but H1's are loud and slow and HOT AC sux, wide as hell, no parts, unless you wait six weeks for tire rod ends, etc. This will be my main vehicle so it needs to be reliable.

THIS WILL BE YOUR MAIN VEHICLE? I HOPE YOU DONT DO A LOT OF DRIVING.....THE H2 ONLY GETS 8 MILES/GALLON. I'D LOVE TO HAVE AN H2 (OR H1 FOR THAT MATTER) BUT ITS SIMPLY NOT RATIONAL FOR ME JUST YET. I'M NOT EVEN OUT OF COLLEGE YET.

ANYWAY, CONTACT BABYDOC. YOU MAY BE INTERESTED IN HIS H1. HE'S LETTING IT GO FOR A GREAT PRICE. NOT MANY MILES ON IT AT ALL.

Warranty??? Well, if you buy the H1, you won't have too much to worry about... They may not be super fast, but those Diesels are extremely dependable. Besides, if you really want a warranty, you can buy one aftermarket from www.warrantygold.com They have the most comprehensive warranty anywhere including factory warranties... I have thier warranties on 2 of my vehicles. Gas mileage??? No contest... The diesel will ALWAYS be better on fuel. IMO, the H1 is a much more capable vehicle, and the H2 isn't much more parking-lot friendly than the H1, so you're not losing by getting an H1. My question is this... You said you were driving around "on campus" so I assume you're a college student... That being the case, if you have $50k to blow on a vehicle, why would you buy a hummer??? if you're an avid off-roader, no need to answer that question, but if you're not, why aren't you getting a nice Vette or Escalade, or something like that?

Ok, start with this... I think that the H2 is a decent, capable vehicle for what it is, but if you saw the most recent luxury SUV ratings, it rated DEAD LAST against the others like the Escalade, LX470, Rover, and the like. As far as the H1 goes, yup, they're loud, yup, they're pretty slow too, but if you're looking for quiet and fast, don't buy an SUV, buy a nice sports car, or something like a Caddy STS. If you're buying this vehicle for its off-road prowess, no question, buy the H1. As far as parts, I don't know if you've ever seen the tierod ends on an H1, but unless you're seriously beating the shit out of it, you'll probably never own it long enough to have to replace one, so I wouldn't worry too much about parts, because the drivetrain is all pretty much standard GM. By the way, the H2 is no speed demon either, if you're looking for a nice SUV with balls, again, go with the Escalade.

a H1 is a big bitch to park and the H2 is a steriod induced Suburban but still have a hard time parking cause its still wide not as wide as a H1 but getting close.
